Has anyone done it?

Don't drink fizzy drinks.(just mineral water and fresh fruit juice)
Don't each sweets.
Only eat Chocolate every now and again as a treat.
Stopped eating crisps, even though I do like them.
Stopped eating biscuts bar the odd relapse when certain brands I like are on offer. Even then I think twice before buying them.
Problem 1. Still eat cakes. Can't have a cup of tea without a piece of cake, which is full of sugar.
Problem 2. Drink up to 5 cups of tea a day with 3 sugars. (don't drink Coffee)
I've tried cutting down on sugar in my tea, and tried drinking tea without any sugar, but have failed every time.
So, how do I mentally cut out the tea+cake breaks in work and at home, and reduce sugar in my tea and stick to it?
As you can see, I do have Sugar will power, but it doesn't stretch as far as a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

This is my problem. I generally eat healthy (in terms of savoury) and I don't drink much but I eat way too much cake and sugar in general.

I managed to cut out sugar from coffee - not had any in coffee at home for over two years. Unfortunately, that doesn't extend to the caramel machiatos and similar that I'll occasionally get from Starbucks, but I suppose once a week isn't bad. Don't drink tea so that's not an issue.

Since working from home, I've also developed that knack of having a croissant or two during my morning break!

It's the same as anything - you just have to have a bit of willpower and replace food with something else. Difficult, I know and before the pandemic I was doing OK, but like many, food becomes a kind of comfort.

Sugar in tea is easy to break. The trick is to put up with the unfamiliar taste for a week or two, then it tastes normal as your taste buds get used to it. Worth noting that the cells in taste buds only last five days which helps a lot. I gave up by cutting down bit by bit as the new taste becomes normal. I went from 2 spoons to 1 and then half a spoon over about three weeks. Then Zero. I found I could actually taste the tea!

Aside from refined sugar (deadly) you should be aware of label ingredients within foods n beverages, both Aspartame n Neotame artificial sweeteners should be avoided at all cost.

Mother Nature provides us with many a natural sweeteners!

You’re having a piece of cake with every cuppa?

When you’re thirsty try drinking water (but no cake). Seriously, it’s the ONLY way to beat the addiction. Two brews a day max.

I am on week 3 of my sugar free diet and to be honest it's not as hard as i expected. I have completely cut out added sugar, so no sugar in coffee (didn't take it in tea), no biscuits (used to eat most of a packet in one go), no cakes and so on.

I think by the nature of the beast it is better to completely cut it out rather than try to reduce it, and I am pretty sure my taste buds got used to the new diet within a few days.

Biggest help has been having a packet or two of dates in the cupboard where I used to keep the biscuits, bananas in the fruit bowl plus red grapes in the fridge. Yes, there is sugar in them but I don't feel it is as addictive as added sugar.

Try using oat milk in tea as it adds a certain sweetness which might make it more palatable if you are used to sugar in there.

Good luck!

I think I'd rather cut my sugary drink intake to one can of Coke a month than put up with artificial sweeteners. They taste awful and aren't great for you.
