How do you define nationality?

To me the north of ireland will always be irish if its occupied by the British government or not.

I'd be quite happy with that. I'd also like to muster every tug boat in Europe and get them to push you until you stick to North America. Where you can continue your love affair and they can sort your prejudices. Because the thing is you see... we, well at least I, don't give a hoot.. about your religion....your culture....your debt...... your island.

In most cases your nationality is defined for you and its very straightforward.
I was born in Wales and I live in Wales. Therefore I am Welsh.

My mate's twin older bothers however were born in Jamaica. They were born prematurely as the parents were holidaying there.
They have never gone back there and so spent precisely one week in the country of their birth.
They hold a British passpost and have no interest in the country.
So to my mind they are 100% British.
If they cheered on the Reggae Boys in World Cups however and had the Jamaican flag on their beroom walls as kids and claimed they were half-Jamaican....or even entirely jamaican....then that would be alright too IMO.

With this subject we just have to accept that in most cases its very simple, but in others there are no absolutes and it ultimately comes down to the individual concerned.

Your nationality is either the country you live in, or the country you've spent a considerable amount of time in.

That would make me , at different times in me life, French, English, Greek, Spanish and a bit American.

I should have added that it's how you feel too.

to me you must be willing to fight for the country you call your own ,
i,d like to know if the proportion of immigrants in this country is matched by the same proportion in our armed forces !
i doubt many muslims who call themselves british would take up arms against another muslim country on our behalf !!
