How far did you walk to school ?

When I was at school we were shown a film about what to do in the event of a nuclear strike. You were advised to get under the dining table and not to look directly at the explosion.
It's a shame the residents of Hiroshima weren't shown that film.

I remember the government films on this subject. Get under your dining table and build a kind of den around it. Failing that get in a cupboard under the stairs, if you had one lol. Like the instructions on what to do if you are in a plane crash, you might as well put your head between your legs and kiss your arse goodbye.

Infant and junior school was about 100 yards..! I lived on Mather st Failsworth and the school was at the top of the street.
Secondary school was Radclyffe Chadderton, bout 3 miles and I went by bike or bus.

Started walking on my own when I was 7.

We have a school policy where I work that requests all children 9 and younger to be accompanied by parent / carer / known adult.

It’s never been challenged but I don’t think there’s a “minimum” age defined in law for when a parent can allow their child to walk to school.

The major difference between now and when I walked to school is the immense increase in traffic (including balaclavad cunts on electric bikes).

Yep no chance I'd let mine walk to school without me, the road near it is so fucking dangerous people drive like pure scum even at school times.
