How good is Silva?

Great player but not in the class of Fabregas/Iniesta/Xavi etc yet

if he was, he would be a regular for spain, he only featured once in the world cup (and had an awful game, 1-0 loss to switzerland)

Since then he has been a regular though starting every Euro qualifier. Up there with those 3 midfielders imo. Will be integral for us in the Champions League.

So Fabregas is better than Xavi? Is Charlie Adam as good as Xavi and Alonso? Is Brunt better than Xavi, Alonso, Silva, Iniesta and other top class players??

Stats are useful but they're not the be all and end all.

Xavi has more goals assists than any midfielder in Europe than Fabregas (this renders your slightly odd comment about Brunt and Adam useless). Fabregas is almost as good as Xavi and definately better than Iniesta.

Fabregas is NOT a regular for Spain, in fact, Silva is played more than him

Del Bosque opted for a more defensive set-up (2 defensive MF) after their lost to Switzerland, prior to that he was a regular (WC Qualifying, Euro 2008)

The point about Adam etc. still stands. Adam got more goals and assists last season than both Xavi and Alonso. Same goes for Brunt. Ashley Young is another one. I suppose he is better than Iniesta...

Would you swap Silva for Brunt?

Fabregas is not better than Iniesta, at least not atm. You're too fixated on stats.
 
Is this purely on ability or what? Hart, Kompany and Yaya all had a better season last year for me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Silva is fantastically talented but he needs to contribute more to be considered among the players you've mentioned. Saying that the last two games have been exactly what I was asking for and more, big performance on Sunday and I'll keep quiet for a while.

I'll think he'll contribute more with Aguero and Nasri running the channels.
