Of course you are right if you never saw him play, and as others have said it is about personal opinions !! We can only comment on what we have seen. There are players like Doherty and Brook, who in their era's would have been regarded as the best ever, but never saw them play. The lovely thing about Colin and David was they were not only great players, but both gentlemen and players that you could look up to.i never saw colin in the flesh play so will bow to your knowledge, merlin is defo the best city player i've ever seen
but from what i have seen colin was more a gerrard type player box to box if you like
merlin undoubtedly a more technically gifted player and was tougher than most gave credit for
we are lucky to have both as blues
he did ;)Truth be told, if he'd wore a red shirt, I would still rate him my favourite player
Typical City fan, youse iz! Always bringing 'Litotes' into it.. mind, he was probably the greatest Greek player ever.. (!!)He was Ok I suppose.
Colin Bell was no David Silva. He was Kevin De Bruyne; currently the world's best midfielder. Bell was that good.Always difficult to compare players from different era's , one question would settle it for me. Could either player swap era's and play in those teams , i think King Col would slot in seamlessly into a Pep side and modern day football , Merlin would be kicked from pillar to post in the Bell era of 60's-70's and would spend more time injured than playing , Chopper Harris , Dave Mackay and a few other animals would have ended Merlin's career.
