How good was Spanish Dave?

No right foot, other than for standing on, and that pen was probably the worst I've seen at The Etihad. But apart from that nit-picking he was beyond sublime - the modern-day Puskas. I said on some thread the other week, if either Yaya or Silva wasn't starting my heart would sink. KdB is the current assist king, but Silva wouldn't have needed three quarters of a game before his radar kicked in. He was on the money in the warm ups!

For my money one of his greatest performances was hull away, after vinny was sent off grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and scored a belter from outside the box, got the title challenge back on track
That goal, if he had never done owt before or after it, would have established his place in the pantheon of City greats. Just sheer class that would always rise to the surface.

Probably one of the best players in premiership history and no doubt in our top five. Just a magical first touch and weight of pass that you can not teach. Unreal player.
My only gripe and it’s not against silva was that with mancini and to an extent Pellegrini I felt that they didn’t always play him in his correct position. Too may times they tried to play him as a traditional winger or play in that silly 4222 formation.

Absolutely had to be played as a ten behind the forward of part of a midfield 3.

He was, quite simply, indescribably good. I think we were all excited when he signed for City as the media thought he was Chelsea bound and he took a little time to settle in but once he got that goal at Blackpool we saw, week after week that he was just far better than our wildest dreams. I see that Declan Rice said recently that his intelligence and positional sense made him the worst of nightmares to play against and a lecturer from the maths department at M'cr university said a few years ago that whereas most players look at the field and see chaos David Silva sees endless geometric patterns. There'll never be another like him and it was a privilege that we got the best years of his career.

He was beyond intelligent with the ball at his feet, and had the requisite work ethic to go with his magisterial ability. A f*****g exceptional footballer.

But do you know what the best thing is? I think we currently have three/four players on our books who could supercede him.

What a time to be alive.
