Absolutely, I know he was rated very highly as a bass player mate, and obviously other musicians did as I remember his name being mentioned quite a few times by established stars as someone they'd like to work with back then, just a shame the stardom came when it was the case of the more ridiculous the hair-do the better, which he won hands down for me ;-).
