A40, M40, M42,M6 is the quickest I've driven back, has taken as little as 3 n half hours from getting back in the car. The M1 route is a nightmare because of 2 bottlenecks before you hit the motorway.

Went to Nags Head in Covent Garden after the match. Full of Mackems who kept saying we were the first City fans they'd all seen. Every one of them wanted to chat to us and were an allright bunch. They seemingly all came down 1 or 2 days before and were leaving Monday. Asked how much, they said about £200 - £300, no wonder they couldn't afford to go to their other home matches. But they looked like they were having a good time. There was this one lad who already could barely stand and the rest of the fans made him chug various alcohols through a lamp shade. We left before we got to see any of the aftermath.
Got the 23:35 Megabus back because it was cheapest (although a false economy because we easily spent the difference on booze waiting) . About 3 in the morning near Crewe one of the coach's tyres blew up but the driver then started speeding up, was whizzing past lorries probably about 80-85 mph and there was a godawful deafening sound and i was bouncing about as there was no tyre left. Eventually one of the passengers says "do you know your tyre has blew up?" so the driver finally pulls over.
He tells the passengers "unfortunately one of the tyres has gone flat". Well we all could have told him that. And he rang control to get someone to come out with a new tyre. About an hour and a half later the bloke gets there and they take a while changing the tyre, theres a bit of arguing with the guy (couldn't work out what) but he signs something and the driver rings control. Then he says control won't let me go and they say they've got to send another coach as it's company policy but they've only just sent the other coach out.
Everyone gets a bit angry at this guys incompetence and a lot are shouting at him. As is always the case in these things there is a ring leader, and I recognise his voice. He says "why don't I ring up my producer and tell him what you told me?" At this point I realise it's Andy Kershaw. Driver is moping and sounds upset. We wait about an hour and a half for that coach and it turns out as we are all transferring that the new coach isn't big enough. More arguing from Kershaw. So the new coach driver tells the people who can't fit on the coach to go back on the other coach. I find this hilariously ridiculous, Kershaw is strangely silent . We get back to Shudehill about 7.00 AM and get the bus home. It occurred to me after that they probably had to send a third coach (probably a massive double decker knowing them) for the 3 or 4 that couldn't fit on and I hope that they got home ok.
But isn't that why you go on trips? For funny stories? That's what I tell myself anyway. Had a great time at Wembley and I'm just glad this shite didn't happen on the way down.
Would I go on Megabus again? Probably, can't argue with the price, you could have a day out in London for £10 return plus £8 for underground day ticket. Think I might go again soon with mates to take in the Museums and get pissed after.

Ha! So they didn't close the posh bars then. We headed to Baker St on the tube after the match only to find the Met had ordered every pub in the area to close at 4pm. WTF was that all about?
