How long will the rebuild take?

Ederson, walker, nunes, gundogan need to go. I don't think there's long left for kdb stones and silva either. Wouldn't be to upset about them leaving this time. And grealish let's be honest for 100 mil as been appalling. He won't be getting his annual parade piss up this season.
His prospects may be a little slim with the new summer signings but we can keep Nunes as we do lack squad depth.

Txiki is in the building to do that along with the other Execs, but Vianas views will be well known.
His focus is still on his job in Lisbon. We won't get to hear about any of his City targets until at least nearer the end of the season. May get a verbal agreement on them but nothing to suggest an immediate signing.

His focus is not on Lisbon, who gets a new job without been distracted, come on Ray!

He will be watching every game we play , he will have the details of ever player on the books, he will know who wants out, who Pep wants out etc.

Grealish looks like he’s afraid of his own shadow, no confidence going forward unlike when he played for Villa

There will be many that stay because we can't change too many players in one go, although I am sure Pep is tempted.

He is still professional. If there were doubts on that he would be on Gardening Leave. And City's exec might not be too thrilled that their new employee is easily distracted.

Definetly, I didn't actually realise how bad his stats G/A were for us until I looked the other day. Youd of expected a lot more of a turn around from him considering the fee we paid for him. Be lucky get 25 mil for him now. Someone said he'd end up back at villa I'm not sure they'd even want him back.

Doku gets called out for losing the ball but at least he takes full backs on…..

Well conservatively we need a completely new midfield, and new full-backs on either side, plus an alternative option to Erling up top so he doesnt have to play every minute of every game. Im old enough to remember the golden days of his first season when he was regularly withdrawn after 60 mins to preserve him and keep him sharp/fresh, and we ended up winning the treble - what a mad idea that was having a reserve striker!

Liverpool rebuilt their entire midfield recently and it took 2 windows, so Id suggest at least 2 windows for us but thats assuming we buy well and dont bring in players the like of Phillips, Nunes or Savinho who will never be good enough at the top level.

Its essential we bring in at least 2 central midfielders in January - Id make them both hold midfielders as well to arrest the constant free runs at our goal that we currently permit.

as per Einstein's definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This for me is Pep at the moment, we haven't got the right players available (or operating at the levels they could a couple of seasons ago), to play the system we're playing week in week out - it's not working.
We've still got decent talent available, but unfortunately the system is making them look shit - attackers constantly facing packed penalty areas and defenders and midfielders being exposed time and time again.
Pep needs to change his mentality, be more pragmatic, sit deeper etc - change the system to suit what's available - he can go back to high possession based football again when reinforcements come in, but for the short term he needs to sacrifice his principals.
At the moment everyone knows the script, which will be repeated on Sunday without doubt We're like a boxer with a glass jaw and a weak punch always being on the front foot against a less skilful opponent, never landing a meaningful blow but with our guard down - everyone can see the KO counter punch coming.
I was thinking this. Is he expecting new players and so wants to keep his system so they can ease into that way of playing, willing to take the poor results as a sacrifice until then/ not expecting us to have played so bad. Because it's obvious we actually do need to change the way we play in the meantime, especially the inevitable counter - having to weakness defence even more to chade goals - leading to another much easier and expected counter.
