How many players out on loan?

I make it that we have 108 players on our books (from 16 upwards) and 36 of these are out on loan, there are one or two dubious one's admittedly that I am not 100% if we own or the CFG own.

Why have we loaned out the current crop of Hart, Denayer, Nasri, Bony & Mangala, they are all surplus to requirements so why are they not sold, I know there is a reason for it but I think I need enlightening from some of the clued up Blues on here.

Because their wages make permanent deals prohibitive for many clubs.

Think the difference between us and Chelsea is that far more of our loanees have a shot of ever playing for the first team. Don't think Chelsea do much to develop them before or after, just hope he turns into a wonderkid and sell him if he doesn't.

That will depend on whether his career blossoms or regresses during his time in Scotland, there will be no such thing as a gimmee at our club now for a long while, especially with our new coach, and I quote Dante from Munich, saying Pep is not good at a human level.

The robots we now have as players will have to proper exceed to win him over, but as long as you can pass out from the back,we will be fine..........................................................
You quote one player who says he's not good on a human level when there are countless examples of players saying he's the greatest coach they've worked with. Also, on the point about human level, or whatever the fuck that means, only last week Sterling came out and gave a great quote on how Pep had treated him, not just since he came but throughout the euros as well when he was having a tough time. Ironically it was the supposed father figure Pellegrini who he said hung him out to dry and had no time for him on a personal level.

Your last sentence just comes across as bitter because we've let Hart go.

You've supported City for a long time, mate. It'd be a shame if you let what's happened with Hart put a dampener on your enjoyment over the next few years. You've put in the hard yards and seen the shite we've served up so deserve to see the good times of which I'm positive will be many.

Struck me that Pellegrini was very distant and cool about pretty much everyone (and everything).

Your spot on mate,I'm just still sulking, but all will be good come derby day,it has been a very hard pill to swallow this last week,I just hope we get it right,I'm sure we will

To quote ex players is absolute madness. There is no manager living who has not been criticised by an ex-pro. Ask Richards/Lescott/Barrys/Jovetics thoughts on Pellers, or Bellamys/Teves' thoughts on Mancini it goes with the territory and in life it is unlikely everyone you meet you will get along with.

Personally it all seemed a bit comfortable last season with certain players. There was littel competition and regardless of form certain players were picked. No longer is the tail wagging the dog and finally we have a meritocracy where players are chosen on performance and nothing else

The simple explanation is that nobody is prepared to buy them because they are unwilling to accept a reduction in their wages. Indeed in most cases they are only willing to take them on loan if we continue to pay a large chunk of their inflated pay. The huge number of academy players on loan is an interesting one as I see it only 4/5 at most have any real chance of making it into the first team squad in the future. The vast majority will be sold on for relatively small fees in Europe and lower domestic leagues. This money effectively finances the academy where hopefully we can unearth the odd diamond every 4 or 5 years.

Surely it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Roberts comes into the squad next summer when Navas' contract expires?
It's within the realms of possibility of course, as was Denayer coming into the squad when Demichelis' contract expired.

Patrick Roberts too

Been saying for a while that we are basically copying Chelsea's transfer model now. Buy young and loan out until they are worth something, then sell.
Yes this will be the case for most of the youngsters but a minority will return and I expect that a small number of really special prospects may be slowly integrated into the first team squad rather than farmed out. We currently have 4 or 5 outstanding 16-18 year old's who may fall into the latter category.

Part of the loan problem is that reserve team football was scrapped years ago.
Reserve football was good to get experienced pros game time after injury or if they were not making the first team regularly.
It also meant that the younger players could play with and against senior players in a competitive match as there was no age limit.
The problem teams especially top teams have now is that academy/EDS etc tends to finish at 21 so the teams have to get rid of the players or loan them out if they aren’t fully sure of their potential.

Some players develop later than others or hit their peak at 19/20 but the clubs have nowhere to use them to see if they can develop more.
