How many points for 4th?

Bit presumptious to say we'll get a point at the Cottage. One of the best teams of their kind this year, Fulham. The way the league has spat out mad results this season, I think its nigh-on impossible to predict the points which may be gained by us, Villa, Spurs and the Dippers. Villa now have a game in hand on us, but even if they win that we are a point ahead. We have games in hand on Spurs, which is good, and as of next Monday we will have 2 in hand over Liverpool. With us beig out of the cups it means pure focus on the league. Our run in is tough, but if we can put February down to experience and look at it as just that, and push on from the Chelsea win, I think we have it in our pockets to go on and finish 4th. I see it going down to the wire though, as with the title for united, Arsenal and Chelsea. Should make for a perfect viewing of last day football.

Fulham play Juve away on the Thursday before our fixture, that may help

Wasn't aware of that, to be honest. A draw would be a good result there though no matter who they play leading up to the fixture. Got to hand it to Hodgson.

Since the premier league began:
Highest 4th place total 2007 Liverpool 76 pts
Lowest 4th place total 2003 Liverpool 60 pts

Average total for 4th place since league began 67.8 pts

Points so far this season per game

City 1.81 pts per game = would give 68.78 total
Spurs 1.75 pts per game = would give 66.5 total
Villa 1.73 pts per game = would give 65.74 total
L'pool 1.71 pts per game = would give 64.98 total

Just information to kick around

Nice stats.
Even better that our average per game since Roberto took charge is 2 which would put us on 71.

Yeah, they are interesting stats. If the range is 60 to 76, I certainly see it being at the higher end of that range. Why? Because I can't remember a season in recent years where the contenders for the title have all lost so many games. Which means more points for the other teams.

For example in the 6 games we have played against the big 4 this season, they have dropped 13 out of 18 points. (Chelsea 6, Liverpool 4, Arsenal 3).

sunderland away 3
fulham away 1
wigan home 3
burnley away 3
birmingham home 3
scum home 1
arsenal away 0
villa home 1
west ham away 1
spurs home 1
everton home 1
points total - 67

fixed it for you

A win against spuds is not likely in my view. Our record against them is dreadful. 1 win (and 11 defeats) over them in the past 13 PL games doesn't suggest we'll be picking up all the points.

Tear the form book up mate, the difference between this team and the team we had in the past is like the difference between night and day. If we can beat Aresenal twice the Rags and Chelsea at home this year we sure as hell have it in us to beat Spurs.

So you see us picking up 4 points from 12 against scum, spurs, villa, everton? interesting, though i'll have a little wager we at the very least win 2 of those.
