How many points to win the league?

Good result for us last night. I still see Chelsea as more of a threat than the rags. We are in such a good position though and that helps take pressure off the big games which should mean better performances.

We all looked at Anfield as being the toughest test but as much as they have a great attack they also have a poor defence. We can control the midfield battle, particularly if Silva plays, and will create chances. Yes they will have theirs but I see no reason why we can't beat them. We are due a win at Anfield and this season is the year we will get it.
Field our strongest team and we will win. Ederson, walker, otamendi, stones, delphinio, Fern, De Bruyne, Silva, Raz, Sane, Kun. If for whatever reason we need to change 2 or 3 in that team, we probably won’t win.

All this assumes the other teams picking up close to maximum points. Our nearest rivals have dropped points in 8 out of 22 games-that's in excess of 1 in 3! The next teams are even worse. There is no suggestion that any of them are going on a 10+ match winning streak.

There have been many many better teams in the PL and not one of them has gotten close to winning 16 in a row other than ourselves.

Chelsea won 30 games last season and were more than capable of a good run. Not saying we won't win it we have a great chance but glad to be well ahead of them.

Win at Liverpool and it's over. Won't be easy. Expect VVD to make his debut.

United are away at Spurs the following Week.

If we beat Liverpool the Invincibles chat will ramp up to fever pitch.

They are not capable of winning 16 games in a row, give over.
Agreed
Comparing last year with this is ridiculous.
They weren't involved in Europe last year, got knocked out early in the CO Cup and have sold their most prolific striker. Plus they had a new manager which changed their playing style and it's taken a while for teams to work them out.

They are a good team but not very good.

Definitely due a win there, but if I was offered a draw now I'd take it. We've gone to Anfield time and time again with the best team on paper and still made them look like a Barcelona Bayern hybrid.

They won something like 13 in a row after losing to Arsenal 3-0. Also finished with 93 points which is close to the record.

Technically you could claim to be correct because they didn't do it, but they were capable of it surely? Won the league comfortably after a poor start.

The current Chelsea is not capable of it.

Lets say Chelsea had won last night - would have been able to get 97 points. Lets allow them 1 loss and 1 draw from the 16 they have left. Would mean 92 points.

We are on 62 so would have meant we needed 30 points from 16 games. Doable but not a certainty.

They always seem to step their level up against us and will want revenge for the hammering we gave them. We just need to go out as we have done in most big games this season and exert control from the first whistle.

I expect that Chelsea will continue with good form and in the next 10 games replicate their form from the last 10. Draw a couple, lose one. If that happens and we beat them at the Etihad, I think we will be there or thereabouts by the time of the derby - high 80’s points. Now that would be something, win the title by beating the Rags.

It's unlikely, but you never know. We are all just speculating.

Lol not a chance any of the teams chasing us are capable of winning 16 in a row.
We are the only team ever in England to have achieved that feat and it’s not going to happen again any time soon.
We will beat both Chelsea & Utd at home comfortably and piss the league by about 15/20pts.
And that will be with us taking the foot off the gas as well!

Technically and factually correct and we are talking about a different team in a different season. What they did last year matters not, but even when they weren’t playing three games a week (whilst their opponents were), they still didn’t manage it.

16 wins in a row is not a simple task hence only one club ever doing it in 130 odd years.

The pleasure this season will be seeing how it unfolds with a 15 point lead.

It's got to the point now where I would seriously consider resting players in the league games and putting more into the Cups. I am not saying I would do it. But we should consider our objectives for this season. Do we want 4 trophies? can we do it? What is more important? Getting 100 points and 100 goals, or going for a treble or quadruple?

Maybe we carry on as we are putting everything into every league game, but the possibility is there if we want of re-jigging resources and priorities. Obviously it's not up to us as fans, but it would be interesting to know what fans thought about what you would like City to focus on. When you have a mad fixture program you have to prioritise and you can rest players in one competition to give you a better chance in the other competition. teams do it on a small scale all the time.

Like I said we are all just speculating and whatever you say, you don't 100% know any of the things you state, hence speculation. I have recently 'speculated' to the tune of £50 that we will do what no other team has ever done this season. Nobody knows whether we will do it or not but that is why I got 40/1 for it.
