How many points to win the league?

with all the others from the chain pack having to take points off us, predicting what will happen is difficult.

however I had a "bet" with someone on here that we would win the league by 6 pts or less (i think).....he said it would be double figures.
The main reason behind my thinking is the champs league ambitions, world cup worries for players and mainly the injuries which are certainly mounting up.....

We will not win the league by double figures simply because we will likely win with weeks to go and will rest players and drop points to teams that need them that we wouldn't drop if we also needed them.

It will be a comfortable margin but not like it is now. Most people will want to see Pep give the kids starts when league games are largely irrelevant late on. He should. But chances are the extra winning edge for the teams we play that need the points will factor in to a few dropped points for us.

Of course, if it tightens up before then and takes longer to get over the line that will change a bit. My guess is somewhere between 7 and 9 in the end.

Might have been different if we had not lost at Liverpool but winning the league is now the real aim not by how many points or with one two or three defeats as long as we get there.

Doubt the club will care as much about records as fans do. They will have more interest in next season and player development once we get there.

The worrying stat for me is that we've dropped 7 points in the last 3 away games.

This is not over by a long shot. And Leicester next week is no gimme, especially given the whole Mahrez deadline day scenario.

You mean the fact that their best player will not be playing for them ?

The difficult week will be Post cup final.
Arsenal on the Thursday quickly followed by Chelsea on the Sunday.

Think 85 will be enough to win it, but expect us to get more.
I said that 2 weeks before christmas, and nothing I've seen has changed my mind, in fact we might not even need that many now.

We're averaging 2.6 points per game from our last 10, very slightly down on the 2.65 for the whole season, its a terrible dip in form you're right.

Not true. Pep did this once with Bayern and said never again. If we win with games to spare do not expect him to put teams out not caring whether we win or lose. Winning is a habit.

Hope so, then. But I doubt he had this tough a season with Bayern and players who will nearly all be going to the World Cup. That might factor in.

However I think Arsenal have a cup final that week too. LOL

That is going to be odd whatever happens. Win the trophy and then play them days later at their ground. Will they be disheartened or desperate for revenge? Lose it and they will be parading it to fans pre game. Will that fire them up or us and maybe distract them.

Not your run of the mill few days.

Then Chelsea at home days later.

That period is going to be huge for our season and by the looks of it without anyone of the injured back unless Sane makes a miracle recovery. We could do with him so much for that week.

We could be panicking like mad on here or have our first trophy and be days away from the title.

Same as when we played Liverpool in both games a couple of years. Won the final, then got trounced at Anfield.

Hope not. But better that way round not the other! You get one shot at a final. We could handle losing at the Emirates if we do our job next Saturday.

Serious interest from United in catching us will not happen unless we drop another 4 or 5 points and they don't.
