How many points to win the league?

The points record is pretty meaningless. 06 Chelsea was every bit as good as 05. They just lost their last 2 dead rubbers, whereas 05 only dropped 2 points in there's.

05 finished with 95 points, 06 with 91.

Pep's Barca first team, widely considered the greatest of all time, only finished with 87 points. They lost like their 3 or 4 dead rubbers.

People talk about that United 99 team like they're an all time great, despite having the lowest point total for a champion in the PL era.

Ultimately this team is going to be judged on how many titles they win.

I think a PL winning sides points total must suffer as a result of the earlier it is they win the league and the deeper they go in FA & CL.
 
We only need 90 points to guarantee it which requires 18 points from a possible 33.

5 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses would be enough and that's if united win their remaining 10 games.

I sense we are going to piss it.
 
Starting to believe we could hit the 100 point mark now.
 
11 points from 27 needed realistically with our goal difference.
12 points to put it beyond any doubt.
 
Liverpool will win by 3+ goals next week. We will win United by 3+ goals when we play them and that'll be the game we win the league.
 
You know, it's now just about possible that City already have enough. Not likely just yet, but it's getting there now.
 
We qualify for CL if we win a week tomorrow as Chelsea then could not catch us. Surely has to be the earliest anyone ever has done that.
 
I keep on saying that both the rags and the dippers are on track to finish on 80 points, Two more wins gets us the title, neither the rags or the dippers are getting to 84 points.

I can see Palace getting a draw against the Rags on Monday while the history derby will see them drop either 2 or 3.
 
Still a couple of irritating games coming up against stoke and Everton- let’s not get too excited about the derby just yet.
