Sorry but I don't know how anyone can actually have this opionion. Leeds was the most obvious game to rotate and rest as many players as possible.

This is our run of games. Bold are knockouts.

Dortmund
Leeds
Dortmund
Chelsea FA Cup Semi

Villa
Spurs Cup Final
CL Semi Final

Palace
CL Semi Final
Chelsea
Newcastle
Brighton
Everton

FA Cup Final
CL Final

So we can't rest players in the game before Leeds, nor the 2 after, so you obviously do it at Leeds. And he's going to do exactly the same against Villa if we get through the CL and FA Cup games, so I hope no one is going to act surprised when it happens.
Rotation is needed as you have pointed out. Players that are not first choice can’t be relied upon to pick up wins. It’s that simple and we will drop points. A more in-depth analysis of our squad is needed IMO.

Villa, Palace, Newcastle & Brighton away. Chelsea & Everton at home.

In previous seasons we have done well at all the away grounds apart from Newcastle where we have struggled, these are the games that will win us the league. The home matches are the hardest as we have had some shocking results at home and the pitch is rubbish at present.

Our Last 10 games at St James Park, 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat.

Looking at those games.

And yes, it doesn't work out like this, especially this season.

Villa. Nothing to play for.
Palace. Nothing to play for.
Brighton. Nothing to play for.
Everton. By the last game of the season they will have nothing to play for, either in Europe or missed out.
Newcastle. By then they may have nothing to play for, if Fulham are relegated.

Chelsea. Top 4 place to play for. Plus possible revenge for being knocked out of the FA Cup.

We’ve got a great record at St James‘ Park

I get what your saying and yes maybe the reactions are ott including me.
However Leeds for me were not a team to select and say fuck it let's make loads of changes.
For me yesterday was a game for going full strength l, get the game won and make changes.
The pep love in with Bielsa just like the love in a few weeks ago with the rags boss was to be quite honest embarrassing. Is it any coincidence we lost both games? Obsessing with the opposition manager isn't good.

I think you’re making way too much of this perceived ‘love in’ with other managers.

This is just Pep’s stock approach in press conferences - he does it all the time, yet nothing is made of it when we win.

He did exactly the same things with Brendan Rogers the week before - and even more so with Ancelotti in the FA Cup QF - but no one gives a shit because we won.

You’ve picked the only 2 examples where we’ve lost a game this year as if they are the only times he’s done it - when the reality is you could rewatch all the press conferences for 2021 and you’d find exactly the same pattern.

I very much doubt he’s sitting around the CFA all week eulogising to the players about how great the opposition Managers are - but as all we get to see is a half hour press conference every week, you’re assuming that’s all he’s got to say about the teams we’re playing.

Pep very deliberately doesn’t want to get into slanging matches with opposition Managers like Mourinho loves to do, so deliberately gives the press fuck all to feed off.

That’s all it is!

Beautifully put, I was going to reply load of fucking bollox, but I'll just like your post instead

It really is that simple, and yet OP's seem to read something weak or sinister into it, which is more a reflection of their own thinking .

Pep is too interested in getting the team and set-up right rather than play childish games with the likes of Mouriho and other gobshites.

Play like yesterday and it could happen
Thats the scary part

No offence intended Matt but you are going to have a very miserable few weeks ahead if you can't relax and show some belief in a manager and team who have the necessary character and ability to succeed.

That is not arrogance or complacency but based up experience of what the manager and team have already achieved despite some adversity along the way.

But apparently I am a happy clapper , so feel free to ignore.

To be fair we know what it’s like the 2011-12 season is a reminder of that, never say never football is a funny old game..

Does anyone else hate the term "Champions Elect" that seems to have been adopted recently?

Firstly, we've won nothing yet, and secondly if we do win it, it won't be because we're elected.

Surely the term was penned for the dippers exclusively - starting every August .
