The more trophies we want to win, the more risks we need to take. Only the final outcome can tell us whether the risks have been justified. The season has been great so far, and we are still in all competitions. Rotation has worked fine.

If we think that the PL title is enough, then we play our best team in the PL and rest players in the other competitions. But the club is more ambitious than that. We want to be among the biggest clubs in the world, so we can't neglect the CL. Given that we have won the domestic treble 2 years ago, the CL is a firm priority this season, even at the risk of letting United get back into the PL title hunt.

A reasonable strategy may be to try to win the PL and the CL, and take big risks in the cups with playing squad players: i.e., something somewhat similar to what Liverpool do. But if you are 11-14 pts clear in the league or even 6-8 pts with 5-6 games to go, why not try harder to win also the cup competitions? A PL/CL double would be truly great, but Liverpool and United have already done it several times. If we want City to beat their achievements, then go for the cups as well.

So, if we want to have a really great season, but not the greatest, then go just for the PL and the CL. But if we want to achieve more than Liverpool and United, go for the lot. Which means take significant risks.

Trying to win the lot is very risky, but it is potentially incredibly rewarding. Nobody knows whether the risks will be justified. Letting United close the gap is dangerous, but that's the price of wanting to win a treble/quadruple.

you should rest and not drink alcohol, which the body has to care about to break it down. A bit counter productive.

What is not a fair point is your example. At the time we got decent money for Kelechi, in fact the majority of the figure you quote. Remember it was more than a couple of years ago. We could do nothing about Sancho. He decided to turn down our contract and move virtually on a free with some cash because of his age. Garcia, very similar in that it was his decision not to renew after having his head turned and at the end of his contract and at least 4 CB ahead of him we are not going to offer the stupid money that Barca now look to have withdrawn. What would have been your plan to keep Sancho and Garcia?

I agree it's not easy, I think Agents have a lot to answer for in convincing youngsters they are better than they are and push them to move.
Sadly it's well known that a player joining another club can probably earn a lot more than biding his time with the club that developed him, it's a bit rubbish really.

Back to Saturday though and with Aguero not being available it would have been nice seeing Delap start, he looks more than capable and maybe would of made something of those half chances.

Anyway we move on and now we have another of those remarkable 2 week periods of 4 games in 4 different competitions.

Pretty amazing really considering we are in Aprl, and this is something that happens to us more often these days.

True. BUT they did win the EC and D1 twice. So same thing really. Just cause we dont like it, we shouldn't diminish other clubs achievements.

The title and Cl/Ec double has only been done 4 times and impartially you have to say these 4 teams are the best in English football history. To gain the credit I believe we deserve we really need to win the CL and if possible both trophies together. It would place us unarguably as one of the best Englisg teams ever. Although I'm sure certain part of the media would try and paint our achievement negatively. (They are not a great team till they win the quad two years on the run etc.)

Quite interesting to more that the Rags have attained 63 points from 31 games, an average of 2.013 points per game. People keep saying they are going to win their remaining 7 games and while it is possible there is nothing to suggest they will. 9 points from 3 games is fantastic form but a very narrow window to be looking at. So lets ignore there start to their season in fact lets ignore the whole first half of the season, lets focus on their last 10 games where don't forget they also beat us.

Anyone like to guess how many points they amassed over this period?

22 is the answer, so in they averaged out 2.2 points rather than the 2.013 for the whole season.

By the way we amassed 24 points with our little wobble.

Even if they manage to maintain this 2.2 points a game for the final 7 games they would finish with 15 / 16 points.

Say they get 16, they would finish the league on 79 points, meaning in theory we could draw all of our remaining games and still win the title.

I think people are getting emotional about the winning margin, the record books remember the winners not the margin.

For what it's worth I predict we will win at least 4 of the remining games while the rags will drop points in at least 2 games, I believe we will win by at least 9 points.
