One game at a time, just one game at a time.
We will have to hope that fortune does not go against us in those big games. The Fulham game was one of the last remaining easy games we had and I don't think winning it was ever in doubt. The Cardiff game maybe a lot more difficult as this is a team with a belief and huge motivation. Liverpool v Spurs could be a significant game as it's one where Liverpool could slip up.Every game is like a final now, how many finals can we play and win in a row? It is feasible we win everything of course, but for some reason I can't shake the typical City feeling of Spuds fucking us over with the help of the refs in the CL and it finally being the scousers' year; the way their luck is going every single fucking game, it's like when Leicester won it, things just seem to be going for them. Desperately hope I'm wrong, but can't get too optimistic or it'll make me even more pissed off when we lose a game. The league is always the big one for me, any other cups are a bonus, including CL.
The record of FA Cup finals over the last 30 years is that "smaller sides" don't do very well. A notable exception of course which we clearly recall. It should be within our grasp and is most likely trophy really. The league may depend on dippers dropping points Europe a bridge too far maybe in a couple of years. We will have to hope that fortune does not go against us in those big games. Premier League 55%
FA Cup 45%
Champions League 15%. Equals 4% overall.
I see that Barcelona and Juventus are now 10 and 18 points ahead in their leagues and this gives them an advantage. They will already be coasting and preparing for their Champions League games where we just cannot do that.
The FA Cup is also not as easy as people think because these big games are difficult to win. The record of finals and Wembley games shows that smaller sides are extraordinarily motivated and difficult to beat so for people think that our chances in the semi-final and final are as high as a Premier League game is a mistake. See how Chelsea played to their max when we played them...you can expect Brighton and any finalist to do so too. One fluke goal, or moment of good play can turn these games so to give 90% probability to City in these big games is a mistake a lot of blues are making.
Sunderland, Wimbledon, Coventry, Wigan, Southampton, Everton (Rideout v Man Utd). They had no chance and yet won. Strong favourites but we have a semi-final and maybe Final awaiting us, and they are unlikely to be the easy games that many are expecting. I suppose there is not much argument between overwhelming and strong favourite. The record of FA Cup finals over the last 30 years is that "smaller sides" don't do very well.
