I know I will get stick for this but he certainly is a legend and is as good as or better of a footballer as those City legends those remembering "the good old days" have brought up.
Remember, football is a full time job now. These men aren't hustling for a pay packet in the off season as car salesmen, plumbers etc. Their opponents are skillful, and better conditioned. Just being naturally better than someone might not carry you through if he works his arse off to be better and you do not.
Waiting for the attack but Carlito is an equal to Bell, Summerbee, et al as a footballer. Character wise, I can't say he is but on the pitch this guy is had few equals in his prime.
Cue the hue and cry...
I suppose everyone will have a different opinion on what constitutes a legend, to me a true legend has to be more than a great footballer, of which there is no doubt Carlos certainly was.
The combination of ability, attitude and loyalty to the team are all factors to be considered in the making of a legend.
Maybe times have changed and we will never see another Mike Doyle but even so I don't consider footballing ability alone enough to bestow legendary status upon a player.
Would Mike Doyle or Tony Book have thrown away a City scarf on their way up the Wembley steps?
