How to deal with cold callers

Got a mate at work who does something like this. He talks complete rubbish to them and times how long he can keep them on the line before they hang up on him. He was telling me about one the other week where someone phoned up saying he had a virus on his computer. He said that he had no idea what a computer was and managed to keep claiming it for a few minutes before the caller hung up
