Huddersfield (a) Pre-Match Thread

Looking forward to the game on Sunday. The guys will be going all out for a win at another tricky opponent.

I agree with this. They proved against the rags that they are more than capable of beating mid-table teams. I've watched quite a few of their games (because of Mooy) and they are very tricky opposition on their compact ground and their Manager is very astute. We need to get on top of them early and keep the pedal to the metal for the entire game. No easing up.

Feel that Delph needs a rest and can see that playing Zinc and Mangala on the left side of the defence weakens us but both Oti and Kompany struggled on the left side of 3 earlier in the season. Wanted to put Aguero and Jesus upfront but couldnt leave Sterling out.
 
Anyone know what the score is with pubs? At the FA Cup game last season the police were all over the station and were funnelling us all coming off the trains into a couple of the least desirable watering holes in the town. From what I could tell, they didn't even want us in that real ale pub at the station itself. Will it be different this time due to it being a league game and a smaller allocation? Not that I'm above drinking in places like that (unlike GDM) - but it would be nice to have a bit more variety to choose from.

Well, no, but that was a very different team. Of the 15 who played in that match, six (Zabaleta, Sagna, Kolarov, Fernando, Navas and Nolito) have since left the club. A further two (Stones and Bravo) are almost certain not to start on Sunday, while a much-improved Delph will start in a new position and De Bruyne/Sane will also start this time instead of coming off the bench like they did last season. Our improvement since then is remarkable.
 
Regarding Kompany, if he is available over the next few weeks, the seemingly obvious way to use him is hudds, west ham, scum, spurs.... but we all know it wont work like that..

like it or not, mangala is certain to start a number of games over the next 6 weeks, so picking and choosing is what pep will have in mind. People should get behind mangala becuase we'll be seeing much more of him..
 
OK , first of all ... full disclosure, I’m a fully fledged member of the Aaron Mooy fan club , I reckon he’s a cracking player.
I’m just hoping he has a ‘shocker’ this weekend, because he could hurt us.
As it is I still think he would have done a great job in our squad this year.
Our squad is relatively thin and it’s a long , long bruising season ... he would have been a valuable member.
Anyway , it’s all history now , hope he is ‘off his game’ on Sunday.

It wasn't easy against stoke last season but we smacked them 7-2 this season ;-)

It's not gonna be easy but I expect us to beat them :-)
 
Every other team in the league is capable of beating us if we're not at it. But I expect us to be at it, and win, comfortably or otherwise and in the process equal a club record of 11 straight league wins (I think!)
 
Outside chance but has anybody got a spare ticket for this game? Been let down. Cheers
 
I think regarding who plays beside Ottamendi I think start Kompany at Huddersfield once a couple of goals up or we have the game won then put Mangala on as he needs more minutes on the pitch. Who and when we try to rotate its going to happen within these 3 games coming up. You dont expect them all to play every game maybe apart from Ottamendi and Ederson so I expect plenty of rotation more so at home than the away game. I think some players need to take there chances when they get them. I feel for Benardo Silva has yet to kick on and get a run of games mainly down to the form of the other players playing but when he gets his chance he has to take it.

Also I think if and its a big if Pep wanted to try out the 3 at the back this game could be ideal to try it. To give the patnership of Agureo and Jesus another go up front both were looking good when playing together when Mendy was playing.

No matter what way we line out i think this is a game that we should hopefully have too much for Huddersfield.
 
I can't see anything other than another win, Huddersfield are just not scoring enough (only 8 so far this season) and they will be ball-watching for 90 mins.
