Huddersfield v City post match

Huddersfield played really well & can be proud. I didn't think they created much tbh (Kolarov created a fair bit ;) ) but they were always a threat & both defended & pressed well & broke well, & on the whole were not easy to play against at all.

It's hard to tell about the replay. For one we have no idea what side we will put out & how 'up for it' the players will be. We have had several disasters at home v teams from below & in Europe, so nothing is written.

What I would say, is that it's a different game on our pitch & IF City are up for it, the team we can be is 400% better in every aspect, than the one you saw yesterday. Under those circumstances it would be very difficult for Huddersfield as they have not faced anyhing like it, to practice on. City yesterday, included.

I wouldn't rule anything out, us losing or us scoring ten.

It's City ;)

I agree with you. It was a very average performance from many of our second stringers yesterday, and mostly below par from any potential match winners we fielded.
Huddersfield did well with many of their reserves playing, were a threat, and with a good atmosphere in their full house, I thought it made for a really good and pretty tense cup tie.
I fancy us to win the home replay, but, as Pep will probably field a similar team, any result is possible,

He might be 'shit' but he'll get at least one through the 6 yard box in every single game he plays. Someone like Van Horseface, Ian Wright, Lineker, would score almost every single one, just by playing the percentages, rather than expecting to be picked out.

In fact you can add Sean Goater in the past to that list. Brian Kidd, further in the past. We ahould be scoring almost all of those.

we don't do that when it's Sterling/Sane/Kolarov putting the ball in either, it's what made Jesus against Swansea so unique because he actually followed in, and got 2 goals by being in the right area. Kun on the 1/10 occasion he makes that run got himself (via Mings) a goal at Bournemouth, yet 9/10 times everyone just stands that and watches the opposition CBs go "oh...you're not actually going to try and score this? oh alright then, cheers"

Your guys gave a good account of themselves and it's obvious that your manager is no mug.

I disagree about your offside goal being unfortunate: if your man who was well offside had not been, I think Bravo collects the ball rather than having to stab it away...

The replay is probably an additional game that we could do without. I hope Pep fields a stronger side.

The guy on the line was in 'See if I can foul Bravo and get away with it' mode before the offside became an issue, and then I noticed a grab on Delph in the Huddersfield area as he was about to shoot. Mike Dean would have given the pen in the first couple of games in, but these days a City head has to roll out for a corner before we get a pen, and then it's more likely as it was one of our heads the ref would give a goal kick!

I'm looking forward to the replay, 'cos I think on our turf Aguero will find his shooting boots - hat trick alert!

Imo, under each manager & same now with Pep, we have been possibly the best team in the world for getting the ball into deadly positions for either crosses or passes from the sides, & the worst team in the history of the world for converting it into goals.

The Beast showed Dzeko how it was done for a short while & Jesus has shown Aguero how it's done. Dzeko did it for a while then reverted to sitting back, let's see what Serge does.

Kelechi has done pretty well in that respect & will probably be back soon.

problem is Kelechi has struggled badly with the rest of the play to get it up to the box under Pep and has really been off it when given the chance to start, sadly. The fact Pelle refused to use him for anything other than cameos for large parts of last season has masked that a little.

Got to Huddersfield for about 11. It was like being back into the 80s. Pre match was told by Police we were only allowed in two pubs. Sorry but i aint being forced to go anywhere. Escorted to the ground boxed in by the police was again over the top. Why i am a football fan then automatically low life? After the game on approaching the station was a bit of back in the day with a few skirmishes. All i would say is thank you Huddersfield for your hospitality !

Again, I think there is very little difference between Kelechi & Aguero in build up. Aguero has a way of losing the ball where it looks as if it was unavoidable wheras Kelechi looks a bit nervy is the biggest difference imo.

Kelechi was a No 10 playing on shit pitches when we picked him up. Imo his biggest problem is lack of high level game time in his formative period, added to by Pellegrini. He's pkaying catch up compared to Jesus, Sterling, Sané who were all playing regularly at the same period, in their careers, whilst Kelechi was training, waiting for a work permit, then got Pellegrinied.

I think Kun can be better with it, he's just completely off the boil, same could be said for Kelechi 2bf, it's an odd one why they are both so off it. Pep's already proven he's much happier to hoist Kelechi off the pitch at HT than he is Kun though, just hasn't put the faith in the kids like we were lead to believe he would. It's been no different to last season really, in fact probably worse because at least Kelechi forced his way through by the end. This year if it hasn't been bought, it doesn't play.

Who else was on that road on the walk back to the station when it booted off? Must say it took some balls from the Huddersfield fans calling it on as there were far more City than them! Not my bag any of that but was quite funny watching it.

They weren't letting us in the pub once we got back to the station so I thought fuck this, and sneaked down the side of the station and into another boozer on my own for a quick post-match pint ;)

Tbf, Pep has given Kelechi several opportunies. He did actually play him at Old Trafford. I'm sure if he'd done really well in most games he's started, he'd have played regularly. He was often 'so so' & has been taken out of the firing line for a bit. Standard procedure with young players.

I will be pissed off greatly if Pep doesn't include more youngsters during his tenure, but for a manager in his first season, I have no complaints really apart from Garcia.

But if we'd gone 3 up yesterday, I recon it's nailed on Garcia would have got on. Lack of home draws v 'easy' teams & League Cup run ending is the key imo.
