No, humans are the most intelligent species on this planet, so intelligent that the likes of animal researhers, camermen/women like Gordon Buchanan can avoid attacks from bears by simply saying things like "Hello bear" ,"Hi bear" in order to not spook the bears. The BBC have broadcasted numerous documentarys about bears in recent years, I suggest you look out for some repeats which are broadcasted on BBC Four from time to time (e.g. 'The Great Bear Stakeout', 'The Bear Family and Me.')

As for the 5 men and the dog that were 'attacked' my assumption is they were working in the bears territory and the employer provided no training nor a bear guide to assist the men.

Saying things like 'shoot the bear because humans come first' is idiotic.

Can you find a clip of where the BBC have had a FEMALE brown bear and her very young cubs come into VERY CLOSE contact with a crew of 5 men and a dog that is loose and how saying "good bear, Hi bear" in that instance meant that the bear did not attack.

It's tragic that this happened and you can understand the Bears reaction but it doesn't take away from the sympathy for the people it killed.

Most people if armed would have turned it into a fireside rug.

Great so you post a video in an attempt to show what can be done to easily escape a bear which you claim to be relevant.

The original video shows 5 workers and a dog. The comparison you show has a world renowned large animal wild life photographer and a bear expert (great comparison)

The original video shows two young bear cubs and a female bear. The comparison you show has an almost fully grown adult male bear (great comparison)

The original video shows the first point of contact with the group being between 10-20 feet in distance and a shock to the female. The comparison you show has a first meeting distance of about 100 metres and what looks like a bear with no shock at the sudden threat. (great comparison)

If you live in a country that has bears and you come across a BROWN BEAR as happens in the original video the first thing that any wildlife expert would tell you would be shoot the thing NOW.

I posted a lion that has been raised by humans and then meets them as I thought it was as about a close as a comparison video (even with it being a different species) as you did with your look how easy it is to stop a bear attacking as long as it is a different sex, not with cubs, miles away video.

They had no chance and the only thing that would have helped would have been a gun.

I don't believe this for a second. Animals will kill any perceived threat or annoyance. Just as we kill bugs.

In this case the bear "murdered" the people. There was no provocation to excuse the act. Pity one of the humans didn't have a gun to shoot it before it all began. Unfortunate but people before animals every day of the week.

He did indeed, and when he asked why i was defending them (from being poisoned), i explained that my partner a few years ago had committed suicide (in my presence) due to heroin addiction, he asked if she was a "crack whore". Charming man is Challenger.

If these 5 men were terrified and cornered by this bear then why were they videoing the whole thing? If I thought my life was in danger the last thing I'd be thinking about was making a video. They underestimated the situation greatly and thought it was amusing to their ultimate cost. They didn't deserve to die but you don't mess with wild animals.

Good point. The only reason I can imagine is that they didn't realize the danger then, which is pretty naive. I agree with your assessment, but the "you don't mess with wild animals" bit, I don't get. They weren't messing with anything. Their dog is a wild animal too in essence. I couldn't stop any dog I've had in the past from going for another dog, unless it was on a lead. Can't blame the bear of course, but no blame lies with those men, they're dead.
