Huge money at stake on Sunday

I always thought the Prem TV money was split evenly across all 20 clubs compared to La Liga which Barca and Real dominate.

half right 50% of the money is split evenly the other 50% is on performance with each place in the league being worth roughly 850k more than the place below

A grand at 4/1, to pay for next years season ticket and a good holiday,
5000 for me if we stand and deliver, collect the 4000 and reinvest 1000 at 2/1 for next season, come on city!!!!!!!!!!

Have you been in a coma for the last twenty years?

No, I'm fully aware there's a status quo already but I did think Champions League money was distributed evenly, I thought only the Prem money had this hierarchy structure. That was bad enough.

Why on earth would yo want to incentivise clubs to finish 4th rather than 2nd or 3rd (and maybe even 1st)?

Ridiculous

Okay, admittedly, it wasn't a particularly well thought-out post.

I wasn't thinking of just handing out the money in reverse order though, I was thinking more like the American Football system where the lowest ranked team get the best college players the next season. The lower ranked teams need to somehow be given the ability to catch up in order to maintain a competitive league. Maybe they should be given transfer credits instead that they can spend on young players?

I don't know what would make it work, all I do know is that giving the winners more money strikes me as being unhealthy for competition.

Which is yet another reason why the rest of the world ignores American Football.
A system akin to communism, ironically in the land of the free that ensures mediocrity all round. The relegation system creates excitement and interest in the game and to the victor the spoils is the reason why we are all entranced and biting our nails every year. If your team is shit, all you'd have to do is await the entrance of Yaya, Aguero and Joe Hart and all is rosy again.
Not for me.

You're entitled to your opinion but I can't say I'd agree. I don't think that system is one of the reasons American Football is ignored, I think it's more to do with how introverted the USA are as a whole, just look at basketball and baseball which share a similar trend of popularity but with different systems.

I'm not arguing against the relegation system, I love that and would never want it changing. Plus there are too many teams in this country to not have a system involving promotion and relegation.

All I'm suggesting is a system which mediates how far ahead the big teams can get by somehow giving the teams below them the means to catch up (though that does not necessarily mean they would). You say that ensures mediocrity all round, and you have a point but I think a more competitive league with a more equal distribution of skill and ability would be far more entertaining than a less competitive league where one team has the best of the best and another has the worst of the worst. I suppose that's a matter of opinion though.

I'm not claiming to know how this would work or what sort of guidelines might be put in place or what teams should be rewarded in which way. I'm just saying there must be a much better system out there somewhere than the one we use at the moment. Surely seeing United dominate the cartel over the last 20 years has persuaded you of that?

Also this is something I've thought about way before we were in with a chance of winning the league. It's not the case that I'm just trying thinking of ways to drag us back now that we're successful.

I'll give you 3 grand for it now.
