Huge wasps

Something like this

View attachment 122513

Had 5 of these big buggers in our kitchen over the last 2 weeks, quite interesting and about 2 inches in length. Not too bothered about them as such as they dont appear to eat humans but concerned about where they are coming from and how are they getting in.....never seen them before but apparently are pretty common and widespread, just a bit scary when first seen them
Most likely a type of ichneumon wasp. Despite their name, they're not actually a species of wasp but an entirely separate insect group which help to control other species considered to be pests by laying their eggs on a host insect. Oh and, despite their appearance, they're harmless to humans as they have no sting.
You're welcome.

Ichneuman wasps are used in greenhouses to keep cucumbers straight. They lay their eggs on the larvae which cause the bending.

Not many wasps about in the Shire at the moment.
Probably because it's so fuckin boring here.

Well I am bored shitless anyway.
