the three signings he made for central midfield, kompany, de jong and barry, have collectively scored four goals in ninety-eight appearances. i think this is what i think mancini is referring to when talking about 'changing the mentality' - we just don't have the midfield to drive us forward and why we never seem to have enough players busting a gut to join the attack. can't explain why bobby bought vieira though!

if you can't understand why bobby bought vieira - it's easy, because he didn't. He joined on a free/loan (which every way you want to see it). Obviosuly we were going for more midfielders and it's just a shame that didn't happen, but Vieira was a risk free bet and if nothing else, a good influence on the training ground - think he's done alright so far, to be honest.

I think the problem is, is that hughes was obsessed with buying defensive midfielders, he would of had a team of 11 DM's if he could of!!

We are going to have a season where we may be over-reliant on Gatito. I propose that every successful team needs two main goalscorers, one to complement the other, and take up the job when the other has a blank.

right! so why did sell elano, who scores goals and drives the midfield forward, and replace him with a one paced, steady eddie player like barry? that's his legacy. no attack minded midfielders apart from ireland - and he even pushed him further back! we desperately need a link man.

no doubt you wanted hughes to be given 'time', even after getting beat three nil at home by nottm forest, but you think nine games is enough to sort out the previous manager's mess.
