Compare bentilee with places like toxteth...
What is ignorant about what you are saying is that something that is bog standard in any really bad city,(a drug dealer oh my!)which wouldn't even make the news in such places or they would be reporting 24/7, is big enough of a deal to make the news in stoke. That tells you something. The lad had a class b drug in his possession, some scales, and £290 in cash on him!!! holy jesus thats the bust of the year!
Toxteth in liverpool, handsworth in birmingham, hackney in london, even moss side in your very own manchester make our rough places seem utterly insignificant. Lets see a one off drug dealer getting arrested(with £290 cash no less) making a headlines in any of those places regional news.
Poverty absolutely has everything to do with social issues, if you don't agree with this then you have never been the wrong side of the tracks imo...personally i think america have it right in that regard.
Every place that is classed as a city "has significant social issues that are manifest", nowhere is invulnerable to this in the UK. But stoke i'd say is way off most of the bigger cities, whilst there are many lovely places in and around it. The surrounding area is absolutely lush.
