Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

My union (RMT) started a campaign to highlight defunding of the BTP last July.

The incident on Saturday has thrust the campaign into the limelight.

We're looking at a national day of action. Including demos and pressuring the government to act. As well as seeking guarantees off GBR with regards to safety of passengers and staff.

This will advertised accordingly. As and when it's i'll post it on here.

A national meeting of reps is being held in 2 weeks time to coordinate it.

But they don’t have a massive bill for an NHS, social care so their taxes are spent elsewhere, imagine what we could do with an extra £3-400 billion.
Ok course they do - they spend about the same share of their GDP as we do and have publicly funded health systems just as we do. They just have higher rates of taxation, better public health initiatives and properly fund social care. They also didn't spend years stripping investment away from their health systems leaving them creaking.

They also have medical insurance it’s not fully funded unlike ours

We've had enough!

Since the Huntingdon attack there's been incidents not reported in the media along with the lack of BTP support.

Colleagues and passengers have been subjected to physical and sexual assaults on board our services and the equipment has not been maintained to guarantee prosecution.

"Corrupt CCTV. Won't be replaced until unit is refurbished."

"Body worn camera memory cards full and not been uploaded for weeks."

We know BTP are overworked and underfunded and I have to think carefully about when to call them out.

Travel safe officers not allowed to manhandle offenders as "It doesn't look good for the public brand"

It's time for GBR and the privatised TOCs to invest over splitting profits to stakeholders to protect passengers and staff on the railways and I will fully support any national strike ballot to push and highlight the issues faced by station staff and Traincrew on our network.
