It was odd for me, as I am used to living in Manchester, Zaragoza, Boston, etc.

I am still getting used to living in what passes for a city here.

Yes...... not too many lefties around these parts. It's the one thing I learnt quickly is not to talk politics in a bar.... I hear the conversations and stay out of it. Apart from about a month ago. Bloke I'd never seen before simply stated communism and socialism are the same thing. I couldn't let it go and went on a little rant and about 5 seconds in regretted starting..... but as Magnus Magnusson once said.... "I've started so I'll finish..."
The last Presidential Election was crazy around here. It was obligatory to have a Trump flag or bumper sticker on your car. There were twats on main junctions with a stall set up flogging them
What's worse is you get talking to a few nice lovely women in a bar and somehow the subject cones up and they all declare their total support for Trump. I only asked the question once, about a woman's support for a male who seems to have little regard for women and was matter of factly informed it was all a commie media set up to discredit him blah blah blah.....

Ahh. Few years back we had intended to stay there a few days enroute to friends in Crystal River. Spent a few hours just looking round and thought nah. Ended up back to Dauphin Island and stayed the week, much more sedate. Destin seems a bit too much for me, though tbf it was coming up to spring break.
