Hurricane Orphelia

We arrived in Dublin on Friday dinner, having got tickets to see Jools Holland at the 03 Arena, with a Monday afternoon flight.
Breakfast in the hotel yesterday (Monday) and checked my e-mails and one from Ryan Air informing us that all flights were cancelled until Tuesday.Good job our hotel had room for us for the extra night and thanks to our daughter who re-booked us a flight for 6.30 am this morning.
The weather in the morning was great and we strolled about but then noticed that hardly any shops were open, including Banks. All shops and Banks had notices on the windows saying shut for the day due to the severe weather on its way.
Trams,Trains,Aircraft and Buses after 12.30 were at a standstill and all schools in both Ireland and Northern Ireland are shut until tomorrow.
Dublin was like a bloody ghost town and the winds were horrific with metal shutters being blown off and being hurled in our street which was adjacent to Connell Street,so from 2.00 pm until our taxi arrived at 4.15 am this morning we were stuck in the hotel.
Anyway, other than that what a superb time we had and we will definitely go back,as there is still so much to see and do.

The weather here has returned to the usual windy and rainy self it always is.

We went out to the local wood to collect fallen branches which I store to season for the wood burner. Gets you out in nature, a bit of exercise and has saved me about £800 since I started doing it. Used to get wood delivered each month for inside and outside fires and that as a Scot makes my day.

I plough that money back into the local economy by buying local quality gin, beers and cider.

I do what I can. :)

Some leaves got blew into the Ashton canal
Storm Brian due to hit Friday, more leaves will get blown in
Can't wait

Nice one. It's good to care.

You made a bed out of the wood ?

Or do you mean, the booze.

Boom! :)

So glad you you got onto that. You reply suggested a wit I like to see. I slipped the ball through perfectly and you skelped it home.

The wood bed was a bonus.

If I'm ever in Manchester I will buy you a pint. :)

This was our first hurricane for a long time, so we novices compared to you lot. Can you or any other American on here tell us when we should start looting?
As soon as anyone is shot! Gotta have a good excuse!

And, it stands to reason that looting the only local supermarket for miles is a winning long term strategy for the neighbourhood, and who ever has enough big screen TVs or sneakers?

You're obviously never coming this far south as you keep promising people pints and as you have proven in the earlier post you sir are a tight ****!!
