All the hype on the transfer forum as usual got me thinking of previous transfers where we expected the player to be the new messiah and in fact they turned out to be utter turd.

The one that springs most prominently to mind would be Jo. How that boy has ever pulled on a Brazilian shirt is completely beyond me. Terrible, terrible player. Made Martin Petrov look two footed.

Any others?

Steve McMinimum

If ever a nickname was apt, my god his is. I thought I saw him run once, but I think I must have been mistaken.

Also, I couldn't remember his name previously but what about Nery Castillo? So keen to join he paid half his transfer fee himself, was hyped as being the next big thing. Terrible dross.

Come on, I need more...

Mathias Vuoso. Nobody had ever heard of him but he gained hype from nowhere despite nobody even knowing what he looked like.

Bojinov. Breaking records in Italy, looked the business then got crippled numerous times.

Djamel Belmadi. Everybody was excited about him purely on the basis that he was Benarbia's mate and had a similar style to him.

Ricky Holden. Lee Bradbury. Kevin Reeves

Fucking hell, yes Lee Bradbury. As Butch Wilkins would say, "my word".

What about Samaras? We spent every penny we had on him. Lovely hair but couldn't hit a cows arse with banjo.

Bojinov - hilarious :-) Injured for 23 seasons, finally gets fit and ready to play and then injures himself in the warm up and out for another decade. Priceless.
