That's a fantastic analogy,hahaha!
It's telling how Kendall, after returning to Everton, didn't sell Hinchcliffe...
And it's just as telling that Kendall, after returning to Everton, didn't try to sign any of City's players, including the ones he did sign (and ahem, "wanted") while in charge of City.
So glad his second spell at Everton was a failure. That guy asset stripped our club and for me was the catalyst for our fall down the league a few years later.
On a different note, I read a piece by Martin Samuel today - this guy I think talks sense usually, but he nevertheless came out with a blinder in his article on Sterling.
Quote from Samuel: "The third tier of English football is an all too recent memory"
Erm, no it isn't. It was 16 years ago. For the grand total of 1 season out of our entire history. It is not, by the very definition of the word, "recent". It was, literally, an anomaly. And yet the way people go on about it, it was as though we were a regular 3rd tier club.
Which is simply not true. The vast majority of our history has been spent in the top flight. In our entire history, we have spent 24 seasons outside of the top flight compared to 87 seasons in the top flight (including the up-coming season). Out of those 24 seasons, we were promoted 13 times. Meaning that we have more than a 50% success rate when it comes to getting out of a lower division.
And yet, despite those facts, Samuel, who usually comes across as a knowledgeable guy, comes out with the garbage statement that he did. That really annoyed me when I read it.
