Hypothetical Question

If you had a choice or either

Finishing 6th and qualifying for Europe

or

Finishing 7th, not qualifying for Europe and winning the Uefa Cup

Which would you choose? When i see these questions i always say both but don't be a smart arse and say both.

It would be interesting to see those who would want instant success and those who would rather slowly build. Neither is better or worse than the other.

Me personally i'd rather finish 6th and qualify for europe next season as i reckon that would be more important than winning it this year, plus we would have a chance of winning it from the start.

If we win the UEFA cup we qualify for next seasons Uefa cup anyway - ARTICLE 1.06 UEFA CUP RULES - Title holder qualifies and enter in round 1.

So my answer is win the UEFA cup (and we will qualify anyway)

Cup of course, UEFA Cup winners qualify for next seasons Champions League, Zenit SP won it last year and only finished 12th or so in the russian league, and they were in UCL this season

No according to UEFA.com Zenit qualified due to winning the russian league in 2007 ....

UEFA regulations clearly state that the UEFA cup holders enter the Europa cup at the group stages

UEFA CUP RULES ARTICLE 1.06 - Title holders are guaranteed a place in first round of UEFA CUP (unless the team qualify for champs league via there own domestic league)
