Manchester City set new Premier League earnings record of £60.6m after title winning season
Manchester City's income from broadcast payments during their triumphant season has set a new Premier League record of £60.6 million.
Unlike many other leagues, the TV income in the Premier League is not overly skewed in favor of the top sides.
Half the domestic TV cash and all the overseas rights income is split equally between the 20 clubs, with bottom-place Wolverhampton Wanderers still making £39.1m.
"We believe the way we distribute broadcast income plays a part in allowing each club to compete at the highest level," Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said in a statement Tuesday.
Each club received an equal share of £13.7m from domestic broadcasters, £18.7m from overseas broadcast rights, plus £755,000 for each place they finished in the final table.
Around £570,000 is also paid out each time a club features in a televised match. That meant Arsenal earned £56.2m while finishing third, but fourth-place Tottenham earned £57.4m after playing in 23 live TV games compared to their north London rival's 19.
