***Tin hat firmly on***

I've said previously that I used to love the World Cup & supporting England, but that I'd lost my enthusiasm for it & didn't know why. Well, I've found out why...

This generation of players has ruined my love for the English national team. I could go into individuals & their actions & why I feel like I do about each of them, but I'm sure many on here already feel the same.

I feel no connection with the vast majority of them, they aren't what I class as people we should be looking up to, and I would hate it if these players were feted & put on pedestals as some of our finest. They don't deserve it, and we as football fans & as a country deserve better than them.

I was buzzing for this World Cup and thought we had every chance with these players.

They have proved to be passionless morons.

The final straw was when Rooney came out with them comments last night.

My passion has now gone and I actually detest England.

*orders Slovenia flag* ;)

With you 100% Cheesy.

Top post.

I want us to get fucked over in our final game then get hired to be the gaffer for fuck all and I'll win us the Euro with inform players and young talent. Sorted.

Couldn't agree more. The trouble is there will be all the usual post mortems and everyone saying things will have to change and 4 yrs from now, providing we manage to qualify, we'll all be going through exactly the same thing. Our manager will bottle it and pick the big "names" over the form players. We must be the consistently most under performing country in the history of the World Cup

+1.
I was watching the match last night with my mates and we were actually talking during most of it...like you'd go in a bar somewhere and Villa V Bolton was on and you'd casually glance up now and again...
Never felt like that before.

However-as crap as we've been I just have a sneaking feeling we're going to blag our way through somehow..

At the pre-Algeria game press conference, Rooney stated: "We don't have to be at our best to beat Algeria ... we saw against Slovenia that they are the worst team in the group."

Then after the game Gerrard went on about it being Algeria's "world cup final".

That's one more final than you're going to be playing in, Steven. And it's precisely this kind of un-self aware sense of self-entitlement of these players which makes them look like cunts, and prevents me from warming to them.

I feel the same cheesy...i can`t get up any enthusiasm for England like i do for City.....it never used to be that way

C.T.I.D.

For me it's been that way more or less ever since Bobby Robson's departure after Italia 90. Successive England teams have been dull, uninspiring AND unsuccessful which is a depressing combination. Then there's the attitude of some of the players that a number of posters have touched on, capped by the comments of the two Scousers last night, the contempt of Rooney for the fans and the arrogance of Gerrard and his "it was their World Cup Final" comment - pathetic.

I can count the truly memorable England performances since Italia 90 on the fingers of one hand and like you I can't get anywhere near as worked up about England as I do about City, frankly I'd get more upset now about City conceding a corner than about England failing.

I couldn't agree more, I only support one team and that's City.

England are over hyped and to be perfectly honest shite.

It almost hurts me to feel this way. I love my country & am extremely proud to have served in its Armed Forces for over 20 years (albeit we are UK Forces, of course). Yet, because of these twats who represent us (how awful is that?), I have no affinity towards the national football team at all.

I will be supporting Slovenia next game (unbelievably!), in the hope that a failure triggers a sea change in the way in which our footballers view themselves. I will not be holdig my breath though as I feel this current bunch are far too gone, far too full of thier own self importance & far too believing in their own superiority over others (& not just in footballing terms).

Yep, agree 100%...

What no-one's said yet is that we haven't even played anyone. They give us the easiest draw imaginable, and we still can't perform. We are not good enough, what makes the Premier league so good is the foreign imports. Without these guys on our side, our best players are hopeless. Completely wooden, no imagination, no confidence, no collective talent,
it's beyond me why there was so much optimism, we'd be better to get knocked out now, will save further embarrassment.

It was so much better watching players like Platt, Gasgoine, Lineker, Pearce and Shearer, these modern day over paid ponies have as much pride in the shirt as I have in Gary Neville representing the country.

i understand your frustration fella we all feel it but i think nearly all footballers are the samed no matter what country they come from, the days of identifying with players has long gone, i hope england get through for the sake of the fans and the people of this country who could do with a bit of cheering up.

i respect the likes of hurst and moore and if england won the world cup(fat chance) i wouldnt feel the same about rooney, gerrard, terry etc..

its about the fans and people of this country not these overpaid tossers, england is our team not theirs

I will always support CITY/ENGLAND its not just a tap you can turn on and off,yes 2 very bad,no pathetic performances but it cant get any worse can it.Some very defeatest views on here ,ffs get behind them.its got mehico 86 all over it,and we only went out to that coke sniffing little fat cnut, with his hand.

its very disappointing watching England at this world cup
like cheesy i have no feeling towards this team, although i had a modicum of interest when sweep came on
they just don't seem to be at all interested, so why should i?
