I don't want England to go any further in the WC!

Of course I will cheer them on against Slovenia. Its ridiculous to say you want Slovenia to win but after yesterdays performance my enthusiasm has almost gone. Seeing poor players like Heskey, SWP and Carragher playing ahead of Bent, AJ, and Dawson is so frustrating. We don't deserve to go through but I'll be cheering them on albeit halfheartedly.
 
well,im english, i like football.Does that mean i should be blind to the problems of the national team,grin and bear it stiff upper-lip style? England fans have put up with joyless plodding crap for the last 40 years, maybe their patience has finally run out,the realization that we actually are on a par with the minnows of world football,that actually it wasnt too bad against Usa and Algeria,because they were quite good really,in fact lets all celebrate a stirling result by our plucky chaps on a foreign field.It is not unpatriotic to want the national team to be as good as it can be,equally it is unpatriotic to pretend that the last 10 world cups have been in any way successful and things are getting better. Because obviously they aint.Cheesy on the money for me.
 
All future televised England matches have been moved to the Gay Adult channel. Apparently, the sight of 11 arseholes frequently getting hammered for 90 minutes is too explicit for normal TV.

Maybe if we go out in the groups it will make the FA look at football all the way down at Grass Roots level. I say this because even teams like South Korea are technically light years ahead of us.

The problem is, most amateur/junior levels of football are played on absolute shitholes of a pitch. It encourages kick and rush and it encourages long ball football. Guys like Walcott and Agbonlahor excel at this level because they are very fast, but once they reach a certain age they hit a brick wall as they don't have the footballing ability to fall back on when out and out pace doesn't work. I'm not knocking Agbonlahor or Walcott because they're not that bad, but i am using them as a reference point.

The sad thing is, i've seen players with better technical ability playing down at my local Goals centre. With this in mind, wouldn't it make sense to popularise some form of Summer League to help with the pitch conditions, or even better, play amateur football on astroturf pitches. It discourages the long ball and it discourages kick and rush. We need to be looking at the next generation of kids, and until we address the problem at a grass roots level we're going to continue to have the very same problems in the future.

Something needs to be done to improve the technical ability of the players who do make it, because where i'm sitting from, much technically better English players are slipping through the net, probably because technical ability doesn't reap the rewards of long ball with a fast striker at a lower level.

Until we fix this, we'll continue to struggle. Every time a semi decent player comes through with a bit of technical ability, he'll de lauded as the next best thing. The truth is, even the Joe Cole's and the Rooney's of our team only possess the technical skills of most run of the mill attacking midfielders playing for countless other countries. It's a crying shame.

This generation of players has ruined my love for the English national team. I could go into individuals & their actions & why I feel like I do about each of them, but I'm sure many on here already feel the same.

I feel no connection with the vast majority of them, they aren't what I class as people we should be looking up to, and I would hate it if these players were feted & put on pedestals as some of our finest. They don't deserve it, and we as football fans & as a country deserve better than them.

I've never been bothered about England. Watch the games but they are mostly boring and often shite.

Can't see them achieving anything in this tournament.

Be better if they went out next Weds so we could have our players back sooner. That's the extent of my passion.
 
looking from the outside in it is the media that has hyped up your world cup games so much it has put a hell of a lot of pressure on the players. you should think yourself lucky for getting through to the finals and cheer your nation on as if it was your last game. It's not the best getting put out before the finals ever 2 years. How is it that everyone outside of England can see that you are nto good enough to win the world cup and also this thread only came about after you drew your 2nd game?

I was actually away to tell you to get behind them but fuck it. We might get a friendly together in the next few weeks
 
I actually found Rooney's abject inability to even trap the ball last night funny. He actually gave up in the second half, then wonders why he was booed!
 
Not been arsed about England for about 15 years, I actually find it funny when they let one in or fuck up. Same old faces who've been letting us down for years get picked. We're told by the experts that without the almighty Wooney we are screwed. Well sorry but, I see teams with lesser rated strikers than Defoe, Crouch etc. doing OK.
Crapello wouldn't know a footballer if tripped over one, left Johnson at home and doesn't play Joe Cole, the only two technically gifted players England have.

Every header, every pass, every tackle they put there all because they know what it means to their country. The England squad we're disinterested and lethargic. Be the most gifted footballer in the world, if your not motivated your shite. AJ, Owen, Sidwell, Bullard. These are players with passion, desire. These are the players needed for the England squad. Not the ones rated the highest in Fifa 10

As much as this current crop of England players are doing my head in, people are getting delirious if they seriously think the likes of Owen, Sidwell and Bullard should be playing.
