when the rags signed tranny I had never heard of him and I'm quite knowledgable on European football. I hope we sign a few of the up and coming talents in world football and develop them. The clamour for big name players by most people on here is getting ridiculous. I would like to see witsel, Elia, dzeco, delph and petroica purchased. These players would bring hunger, desire and a lot of ability to the squad. Obviously if we can sign eto, tevez, scheijder or robben then that's great, but I worry as soon as they get left out for a game they will throw the toys out of the pram.

Let's sign good hungry young players and develop them ourselves.

Think that's certainly part of the plan e.g. Kompany looks like he's got world class in him. I'm trusting Hughes to get the right men in.

I'd certainly like to see a couple of this sort bought in, much prefer that to 28/29 year old prem experienced ready made averageness. And now we can afford to spend decent amounts on prospects without needing an immediate contribution.

Think Hughes is more focussed on the 'now' though.

There is no reason why Hughes cant buy 4-5 experienced professionals and a couple of up and coming youngsters to compliment the side.

The problem with sacking managers too frequently is that you never allow the incumbent to take his focus off the short term. Managers then understandably focus on ready made, proven players. Fergie made the point a few months ago that only he and Wenger can look 2-3 years ahead, though he missed out Moyes imo the point still stands.

Now that is not an argument that Hughes should not be sacked, but it is food for thought - I think ADUG know what they're doing, clearly they're not overly trigger happy, but if hughes cements his position then I think we can expect this type of signing.

In fairness Kompany, de Jong and Zaba are sort of in this mould - youngish, promising internationals. So I expect there may be more of this type. It's a shame Cook made the 'comfort zone' comment as it doesn't reflect Hughes' transfer record at all IMO.

In an ideal world, this is what we should be doing. But Hughes hasnt got the kind of job security to bring in young players and give them playing time to develop. When ronaldo joined the scum his first three years were pretty poor and united won nothing.

Hughes' current transfer policy SHOULD see us finish in the top 6 next season, but we mightnt get any further.

I agree with your sentiments braggs but the pressure is clearly on MH for next season.

I think it's also fair to point out that Kompany and Zabaleta may well not have been MH's choices, but, please God, don't let's get into all of this again.
