We are where we are solely because of our first five games of the season. Since then our results have been distinctly mid-table. Injuries haven't helped of course, but the squad remains seriously stretched and performances reflect that. I fail to understand the blind optimism that exists amongst some supporters that the players can suddenly up the pace for a manager who is just a dead man walking, and from hereon I will be happy if we can close out the season in the top three and with the League Cup as ours. Anything better will be a huge bonus.
You could argue that Spurs are where they are because they've won the last 5 games so I don't really see the point in saying things like that.
