I still think we will win the league

If we are within seven points come the last 3 games we have a chance. Leicester then run into the rags, Everton and Chelsea and with that being squeaky bum time I could see them losing all 3 of those.

I'm sorry but with Danny Simpson, Drinkwater, villa reject Albrighton, Stoke rejected Huth I just can't see them not slipping up when it comes to the business end of the season. It's whether we can maintain our own form to pip them is the bigger question.

Could be true... But won't mean anything to us unless we win ALL our matches from now to apply that pressure

In 13-14 I looked at the fixtures with ten games to go and could see only one winner- Chelsea. They had just come through a tough run of fixtures including beating us the Etihad (the ridiculously named ‘Mourinho masterclass’) and were top of the league, playing well and looking good to carry on their winning form.

There was still some hope though as they had to play Spurs, Arsenal, Stoke, Liverpool and they had a tough last day away fixture at Cardiff. What happened - well they won all those games... so they must have won the league then?

They lost to Villa and Palace away and in there last two home games dropped five points as they lost to Sunderland and drew with Norwich. Finishing 4 points behind us and in my opinion being the real 'bottler' of the season.

My point is that 'easy' games on paper are nothing of the sort when the pressure builds towards the end of the season.

If we win our game in hand we are two points behind spurs and seven behind Leicester. If we can gain two points on Leicester in the next 5 games we will still have a great chance of winning the League in my opinion. I just hope the players and particularly Pellegrini realise that and don't concentrate on the champions league if as expected we progress.

Great post.

Excellent post, what may help us is that Leicester and Ranieri are in uncharted territory. We've still got a chance, but only if we get our act together.

Also "easy" games for Leicester I see being their Achilles heel; they're a counter attacking team, they don't play possession short passing football. Teams lower down now will just sit back against them & play for a draw most likely - they won't be used to that & they've struggled in the last couple.

Don't think we'll win the league purely because we're not good enough against decent opposition & still have 3-4 matches that look more than likely to be points dropped if they follow the pattern of the season. I'd take top 4, the League Cup, quarters/semis of CL & a good summer transfer window as an acceptable season.

In 13/14 we collected 23 points from our last 10 games. If we match that, Leicester would have to drop at least 14 points from their remaining 9 games. Almost total collapse from them and/or a better run from City than we managed in 13/14. It could still be done but the challenge seems to be much greater, particularly in view of our recent form.
