Of course he can't. He wants it all, and he wants it now...

It takes some imagination to presume that from an argument that says we should be looking at players with potential even if they m
ight not be ready to make an immediate impact.

Still you never let logic get in the way of a good woman, that's what I like about you Billy.

Gareth Barry - 28 years old, 12mil, 80k a week or Alberto Aquilani - 25 years old, 20mil, 80k a week.

No brainer, Hughes has been sterling this summer.

Aquilani has the potential to be twice the player of Barry

Yeah, you said it, potential.

Richards has the potential to be the best defender in the world, Johnson has the potential to be the best midfielder in England and I seem to remember Samaras and Castillo having potential as well.

No time for potential, Hughes doesn't have the luxury of waiting to see if an expensive gamble on an Italian midfielder comes off, which, given 90% of Italians don't adapt to the Premier League is fine with me.

didnt Bruno Alves make a howler at OT last year? wasnt Pepe Real's "best" defender when they got hammered by Liverpool last year?

On the UEFA thing, I think its 4 homegrown by the club and 8 overall(including the previous 4) who have been brought up in England

Good to see your judging players by one appearance.

well its kinda important that in the big games against ENGLISH clubs they flopped, as thats what we need them 4, its all very well and good them playing well in the Portuguese League but the Premier League is a different standard altogether, the best european players make their mark in the CL all theyve done is make mistakes, not what we need.

He made one mistake against the rags that was it. He was solid throughout the CL, league and against a big team in Arsenal when Porto beat them in the group stages. And why are you solely blaming Pepe for the defeat against Liverpool? There were 10 other players on the park that didn't want to play. Simple as.
