Ok, I met with the 'businessman' yesterday evening and it appears I was not right about him and his credentials. Alarm bells started to ring when we met for a drink and he announced his wallet had been stolen- not a problem I thought these things happen. As I delved a bit deeper into what he wanted from me it appeared that he actually worked (self employed) for a popular home catalogue that you probably get through your door from time to time beginning with K. He started to tell me about how much money he has made from doing this and asked if I would like to 'invest' £500 to buy into this business and buy a batch of catalogues myself. The meeting ended when (after I bought several drinks and lent him my phone 4 times) he asked if I could lend him £100 until Monday to so he could take his girlfriend out until the bank sent him a new debit card, I told him where to go and he had the cheek to ask for a lift back to Bury as he was 'between cars' He basically wanted me to get potential members to come to my talk and then give them the hard sell.

So bluemooners it appears I have been had. I'm sure some of you will take delight in this, but wanted to be honest as some of you seemed genuinely interested in coming along. All part of life/business experience I suppose, never trust a book by its cover.....

Maybe, its still something I would like to do and make a difference, but this guy sucked me in and made me feel 10ft tall......Now I realise it was all bullshit my confidence has been knocked somewhat. Im going to write something anyway this week-an outline/reasons to attend/intro and key points to send out to some consultancies that book speakers. I may post it on here or at least PM those that are interested..... P.S I just checked my phone and the little fooker had been dialling 118 118 while he was outside smoking......probably a few £'s worth.

I can't believe people are falling for this BB. In fact its surprised me from the beginning that people did. But I think you've just pushed it a bit far with this post mate. Fantastic effort though. Up there with your best :)
