Aye, that was at the end of the 69/70 season and sent Wednesday down. There was a bit of a side story to that, Tony Coleman had moved to Wednesday earlier in the season and it seems his old mates in the City team were planning to do him a favour by not trying too hard to win the game. Bowyer came on as sub and promptly scored twice to ruin that idea.Remember my first away game sheff weds he scored 1-2? Headers

That's an interesting take on it and could well be true. The missed pen would also tie in with the players initially wanting to do TC a favour. In that game, Mike Summerbee was forced off injured after a bad tackle by a Wednesday defender and Buzzer missed the ECWC final a week later as a result. Don't know if it's true, but I've heard a version before that City's change in attitude that night came from after the foul. (Bowyer did come on and score twice, seemingly desperate to impress to win a place in the Vienna line-up; also, I believe the record shows that Mike Doyle missed a pen early in the game with a shot that was more like a backpass to the 'keeper).
