Ian Cheeseman (and his VLOGs)

The best ever presenters on GMR / Radio Manchester both binned off James H Reeve and now Ian Cheeseman ( both blues) with the exception of Blue Tuesday I haven't listed to it apart from one commentary on the City app a few weeks ago with miserable, I'm an encyclopaedia of football, Fred Ayer and Jack ohDeardon So my boycott won't make much difference. Jimmy, I've got one script, Wagg and I'm very funny is really so bad it's untrue. Whatever Ian did and James H did, was it worse than Allan Beswick and the producer allowing a pedo on the phone-in to describe, unchallenged, what he does to children? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...wed-paedophile-prisoner-air-deeply-troubling/

The BBC TRUST said “Trustees were deeply troubled by this incident, which they considered showed a grave lack of judgement by the presenter and a serious failure to follow the programme’s protocols.” Allan apologised the following evening, somall is well

He didn't clarify why but he did confirm the reason for his absence was not due ill health.
His post on Facebook:-

What a sad day, leaving "The Best Job in the World"
It's not been a pleasant few months, but it's all over now.
Firstly I'd like to assure all the people who were concerned about my health that I'm fully fit and well. It wasn't easy to go silent on social media, but I chose to keep a low profile until everything was sorted out.
I attended every City game - home and away (including FAYouth Cup) - but always keeping a low profile, so as not to cause any problems
I was very lucky to be able to commentate on City games - all over Europe - for the BBC - how lucky was I?
Andy Buckley and Colin Philpott gave me the job back in the 90s and Andy in particular was a great boss, teacher and mentor - Thankyou Andy.
I've commentated alongside some of my heroes, like Paul Lake, David White, Shaun Goater, Andy Hinchcliffe & unforgettably Nigel Gleghorn (on that day) plus many more and of course Fred Eyre at almost all the away games. I've been so lucky.
But the people I'm most grateful to are the City fans - the City family - whose kindness and support to "little me" has kept me going. I've read every message (even though I chose not to reply at the time - please let City fans that you know, who're not on social media, know I'm well. I wish I'd been given the chance to say thanks to them all on air.
As for the Future? Me and my family are having some precious time together, with people we love, in places we love - then who knows, I'm open to ideas and have nothing planned - although I can promise you that I'll be at every City game, home and away, if finances and health continue to allow me.
I've now attended 2031 City games - MCFC and my family have been, and always will be, my life
I love being part of both families
Thanks x

I heard that interview on the way home from a match and put it on Bluemoon. The post was deleted, probably correctly in hindsight, but only because I've never heard something so horrific. The bloke shouldn't be in prison, he should be five feet under

What a pity the BBC lied about Cheesy being 'sick'. Cowards.

Said it before but it seems to me that Radio Manchester sport is being run down deliberately and this is just the start of that.

You can keep Jack 'Dot' Deerdon and the woman with the speech impediment.

Did anyone grow up with a Hugh in Beswick?
Don't specifically remember any in Beswick, but when we moved up in life and moved to Clayton there were a couple there.

I think they had middle class parents who'd fallen on hard times, and it was their first attempt at disassociating the kids from the 'hood.

Beswick was affectionately referred to as Beiruit when I grew up. Maybe it still is. I doubt anyone called Hugh would have been given a fair crack at growing up. Anyone with an IQ greater than 30 had to tread carefully so as not to stand out too much.

;-)
