Better job?..... Gabby Logan's bike seat! (Hehe)

A real nice bloke Cheeseman. I met him once and he took the time out to talk to me and my Mrs about City. Sound chap.

Sat next to him on the plane going to Hamburg in pre-season under Keegan. Said he was commentating on game but had to pay to go himself because BBC wouldn't pay for it.

Had some good stories to tell - nice fella

I used to work with Cheeseman back in 1987 at the Co-op Bank on Balloon Street. I was 19 at the time, not sure how old he was but 22 years later he looks exactly the same as he did then!!! He had just started a part-time job doing match reports on the official MCFC match phone line for all the away games. Remember this was pre-Sky and the only way you could get info on the away matches (unless you were there ;P) was to listen to Piccadilly Radio or phone up this premium rate phone line that Cheesman updated every 15 minutes. He then did post-match interviews with some of the players. I remember him coming into work the day after one such game and telling me that he'd done an interview the previous night with Paul Stewart. Only problem was Stewart was a bit thick and Cheeseman had to tell him in advance what questions he was gonna ask and what his answers should be!! The next season, when City first started doing their own official match videos, Cheesey got the gig as the commentator. I've still got the 'official' video somewhere of the 5-1 drubbing of the scum with him doing the commentary - boy, he was crap! Completely monotone with not a hint of excitement in his voice. Lost touch with him then as I left the bank so not sure how he ended up at GMR but he was, and probably still is, a thoroughly likeable chap who has always been a massive blue.

One of the best. Never actually met him, but we did walk past each other outside Macclesfield's stadium the other year. I seem to recall that was when SWP left the pitch before the game to go and sign up for Chelsea...

Funny how you can usually tell from the tone of the commentary whether we're winning, losing or drawing...
