Spot on.I disagree.
On this occasion I believe that it's a great thing that the prison service couldn't keep this monster safe.
And if the screws have blatantly turned the other cheek to allow it to happen then fair play to them.

No one is going to lose sleep over Ian Watkins’ well-being but it’s not a good thing that we can’t keep convicted criminals safe in our own prisons.
He got a fair trial and a judge and jury sentenced him to a prison term, not to be killed in prison.
hopefully he survives and serves every last day of the rest of his very lengthy term.
Unfortunately this seems to be part of a wider issue, with serious prisoner on prisons assaults up 30% on the year, deaths in custody are up 10% and suicides up 26%.
Don’t think he’d be allowed to come anyway, tbh.I wouldn't invite him round for dinner, put it that way
Nope, and for good reason! Who wants to dine with a guy who has been convicted of baby rape?Don’t think he’d be allowed to come anyway, tbh.
I don't disagree with you at all, keeping him alive keeps him suffering. The wider issue for me is the grossly underpaid staff in places like this with grossly unprofessional management. A lot of old screws have been mismanaged and pushed out of the back door, replaced with young kids not cut out for the job, on nowhere near enough money to justify putting their body on the line.
The cons used to respect the old school screws as respect was earned both ways. I've spent a lot of time in jails up and down the country as a contractor and it's been very eye opening as a fly on the wall. I really worry for the future of the prison service.
Nonces are kept on different wings in jail, but also housed there tend to be those who have commited crimes against women, so a real concoction of shite. Plus the normal cons on other wings are keeping their eye out every passing minute for when sex offenders are being escorted past. Hopefully won't be the last time this piece of subhuman shit is badly hurt inside.
I'm sure you're right about the prison service. It's a public institution most of us never see, but it's been just as badly effected by 13 years of austerity as the rest of the country.
The Watkins case was one of the most shocking and abhorrent that I can recall in recent memory. I'm actually surprised that it's taken this long for an attack like this to happen.
Probably another nonce. Don’t they all live in the nonce wing? Horrible bastards. The prison community knows how to deal out appropriate sentences. Once again, they've got this one absolutely right.
Well done to whoever sorted the bastard out.
Probably worse tbh. Most groups can advocate and get attention and mitigation, e.g. disabled.
Almost nobody cares about prisoner's conditions and advocates on their behalf.
Good example that proves the point that these kind of revenge attacks are often carried out by other depraved violent sex offenders.Richard Huckle was a prolific paedophile and was murdered inside.
His injuries aren't life threatening sadly
It’s an understandable viewpoint, especially in the current economic climate. There are obviously some convicted criminals like Watkins who don’t deserve rehabilitation, but it’d be wrong to tar all prisoners with the same brush. Defunding the prison service is to the detriment of society as a whole imo. Not really the thread for it though as it probably deserves a separate discussion.I can’t say it’s top of my list of things to give a fuck about if I’m honest.
It comes just below candle subsidies in Merseyside on my list public spending priorities.
Jesus ChristFor anyone unfamiliar here's the sentencing remarks from the trial. https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/JCO/Documents/Judgments/r-v-watkins-and-others.pdf
Be warned though, its tough reading. Part of me hopes he recovers just so it can happen to him again and again

One (B) got 14 years and the other (P) 17 years, with parole after half sentence served but then on license if parole granted.Totally unfathomable and sick. Did the 2 women get lengthy sentences too? No doubt given anonymity upon release. A bullet in the head would be too good for these cunts.
