What does the US justice system have to do with this? If my name was MossleyBlue, would it have made it easier to stay on topic?

We are discussing whether someone who committed horrendous acts with and against minors is able to be rehabilitated by being put in a secure facility where he is not going to get stabbed, beaten or anally raped to death? I think the answer is “No.” and he has self-selected himself OUT of our so-called civilized society.

As such, I see no redeeming value in locking him away in a concrete box waiting for the inevitable. He made his choice and I’ve made mine.

The big problem with your approach is the ‘may as well be hung for a sheep as well as a lamb’ mantra. If paedophiles were routinely executed then the number of child murders would unquestionably go through the roof.

And also discourage victims of intrafamilial abuse from ever reporting their male relatives because they know there's a chance they are causing their death.

Adding impossible feelings of guilt to victims who may already suffer with feelings of internalised shame and worthlessness.

The lust for children is not the same as the lust for the power to control life and death. I’ll grant that to you IF, and only if, you can show a recognized study that supports your claim.

Fwiw, child molestation IS almost a death sentence to the child involved. It never leaves them and it colors their view of others and life.

You call my feelings “blood lust,” but it’s the exact opposite. I abhor personal violence. I think it is a human societal cancer. Accordingly, I strongly favor strict enforcement of societal penalties on those that seek to exploit others for THEIR blood lust.

An eye for an eye is not a new sentiment. In many ways, I support that, especially when the first eye is taken in an outrageous, sickening act.

I draw a sharp distinction between manslaughter and murder, but feel like child molestation (especially in a sadistic or physical domineering manner) is almost on a par with murder.

You knew the rules, especially the most serious ones. YOU get to choose your path. If that path destroys others, by choice, then my choice is to remove you from society. Permanently.

I understand some of the pitfalls, and believe there should be safeguards and checks & balances, but I’ll never believe these types of individuals deserve my grace or mercy.

No I think in some circumstances abused victims wouldn't come forward because of that and would conceal it from their parents or guardians.

It's not unheard of victims of such abuse to keep quiet about their abusive uncle, father, brother or grandfather to not rock the boat of the wider family.

Adding that into the equation naturally adds to the unbearable weight of guilt on their shoulders that some victims experience (reporting such abuse is not something they should feel guilty about, but that's not how severe emotional trauma works).

I'm not sure how a public hanging of their abuser does anything for someone with complex emotional trauma.
