Ian Wright Blasts City over SWP

This is a person who quit Match of the Day because he wanted to be taken more seriously and then joined Gladiators. Now doing a daytime TV show with 2 women, thank god i work.

Why does he think we need to do a new contract with 3 years left on the current one. Its crazy and unheard of unless SWP was on a low paying contract and we wanted to give him a new one to fend off other clubs, but i think he will be on a very good contract already.

How old will he be in 3 years time?

As for Barcelona, how comes they get away with speaking about our players (if they have and its not media shit). Its tapping up surely.

Sounds like his agent (his dad) is trying to re-negotiate his contract terms.

SWP should take a leaf out of Stevie Ireland's book, who played the season of his life and was rewarded with an improved contract.

Ian Wright is a muppet, and should be inspiring his son to play better, not moan about contract talks.

Of course it is. Shaun signed before ADUG arrived, and is probably behind on the pay stakes. But thats tough.

IAN WRIGHT has blamed Manchester City chiefs Garry Cook and Brian Marwood for the collapse of his son's contract talks.
Shaun Wright-Phillips has tried to extend his Eastlands deal, which has three years to run.

But the two parties have failed to reach an agreement - alerting Barcelona, who are trying to put together a shock swoop for the England star by 5pm on Monday.

SunSport columnist Wrighty says chief executive Cook and football administrator Marwood are not helping his lad.

The Arsenal legend said: "Ever since Cook and Marwood came to the club they seem to be only interested in looking after players who are not really Man City people.

"Shaun is City through and through, but he has to feel appreciated."

Barca could offer £7million plus forward Bojan Krkic, 19.

And the only way seems to have another twenty grand to take home! I wonder what Shaun thinks? His 'Dad' always did have a large mouth.

I guess SWP and Wright have seen this new money come in since his arrival, with England squad members making 100k+ and they want a piece of the pie.

In some ways I totally understand that. If you was on £40k a year at work and someone with similar ability came in to do the same role on £100k, you'd be pretty pissed off too.


That said I despise the way Wright is going about this and putting our laundry out in the public.

To be fair it his job to negotiate the best cotract for his son if he is the agent.This just seems a rather crass way of going about it and may well backfire to both SWPs' and Citys' detriment.
Public confrontation is not generally a very clever negotiating tactic.

The trouble is SWP's form has slipped ..... leading to City's doubts about a new (or extended) contract ...... that's SWP's fault , and not Gary Cooks.

It's up to SWP to start finding the form we all know he's capable of again ....... not only for his club future , but his international future too.

As for any Barcelona interest ..... SWP will be only too aware of the racial abuse he's suffered in Spain in the past , and it could well cool his interest in going there ...... that's if he has any!
