Manchester City's glamour-boy slackers have been warned they will not be able to take liberties with Roberto Mancini.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who won two Serie A crowns under Mancini at Inter Milan, claims his old boss has many of the qualities of Jose Mourinho.
Ibrahimovic believes sacked City boss Mark Hughes may have suffered for his lack of A-list managerial credentials, as superstars like Robinho and Emmanuel A debayor went missing when the heat was on.
But the Swede insists tough-guy Mancini will have no such difficulties.
The Barcelona striker claims Mancini will shake up City's shoddy defence in January.
And he also reckons disaffected stars like Hughes loyalist Craig Bellamy will not want to see the Italian get angry - because it is "not a pretty sight".
Ibrahimovic said: "Only the big managers can handle the big players, and if those players spot a weakness in a manager who has not been at a top club they may take liberties. That is what possibly happened at City.
Learned
"It's no disrespect to Mark Hughes, but City now have a coach that knows how to manage big players and big teams.
"City want to become a big team, and in order to do that you need a manager who knows how to run one.
"I think City have already learned that you don't become Barcelona or Inter Milan overnight. It takes a lot of time but it also takes the right man in charge.
"Roberto will change the mentality of the club overnight, he is a big manager and the players will learn that very quickly.
"He is used to working with big players, and he will make sure he lets them know who is boss. I am not sure what the City players have been used to, but they will find out very quickly it is his way or you won't be playing for the club.
"He is his own man, but he shares many of the characteristics of Mourinho, and that is what the Premier League can expect. He is a very educated, calm, sophisticated guy, but when he needs to show another streak he really means it.
"It's not pretty to see - if he is not happy with you, he will let you know about it in no uncertain terms.
"Training is really intense with him. He doesn't just demand your all on match day, he demands it every single day in training.
Listen
"If he wants you to work on something or change something and you don't listen then you will not be included in the squad - it really is that simple.
"There are some big names at City, but they will not faze him. He will make sure they know who is in charge, and if you don't like that or don't listen then you don't play for him."
Mancini won the Scudetto three times in a row with Inter - two of them with Ibrahimovic leading the line. And while the Sweden international insists Mancini wants his sides to play attractive football, he says the new City manager's first priority will be to bolster a defence which has leaked nine goals in three games.
Ibrahimovic said: "I don't know what players he has in mind, but being Italian a good defence is important for him.
"He likes his attacking football, and his teams play some great stuff. But like all great Italian managers he demands a solid back four.
"I understand the City defence has not been that tight this year, and it wouldn't surprise me if he tried to sign one or two world-class players in January.
"There are very good players at City that I am sure he will get the best out of, but he will want to bring in some of his own players.
"The City defenders will be playing for their places, because the transfer window opens soon and I am sure Roberto already has people in mind."
Ibrahimovic believes Mancini can achieve City's stated aim of a top-four finish this season.
He said: "It's not the ideal time for him to join in the middle of the season, but I think City can have a successful season under Roberto.
"He is clever enough to understand that they are not going to finish above Chelsea and Manchester United just yet.
"But I think now he is in charge they have a real chance of Champions League qualification this year.
"Like I said, you don't become a European super power overnight. But if they give Roberto time I'm sure City can become a real force under him."
