From Metro (25 August 2012):
Arsenal and Spurs on alert as Ibrahim Afellay told to leave Barcelona
Ibrahim Afellay has been told he can leave Barcelona, just weeks after he disappointed Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool by saying he wanted to stay at the Camp Nou.
The Dutchman has endured a miserable 12 months, spending most of it in the treatment room after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
He had hoped to establish himself in the Barca first team this season, but new coach Tito Vilanova has informed the 26-year-old he is not in his plans and can move on.
Afellay must now reassess his options and that is likely to include his agent speaking again to the three English clubs that expressed a strong interest in him.
Arsenal and Spurs are both hoping to bring in more new faces before the transfer window closes, and would still be interested if the Netherlands international is available for the right price.
Barca paid just £2.4million for Afellay in January 2011, but his PSV Eindhoven contract had just six months remaining on it at the time.
The Catalan club hope to make a sizeable profit when they offload the winger and will attempt to use interest from Inter Milan to provoke a bidding war.
Liverpool will not re-enter the race, as Brendan Rodgers opted to sign Morocco international Oussama Assaidi from Heerenveen after being knocked back by Afellay.

The Sinclair deal is practically complete so why would we buy more wingers to have on the bench when we don't use them.

Very overrated anyway.

As opposed to how many threads for other players on the transfer forum? I don't see you popping up in every one of those to state the obvious..
This is the latest transfer story/rumor doing the rounds, on a promising player currently at Barcelona that Arsenal and Spurs seem to be interested in. I felt that it at least merits a discussion..
Feel free to ignore this thread, if you're not interested in discussing the topic at hand..
