Law so how many of that team will end up playing for England in a test game? Or are they nowhere near the standard.

It is a shame that Ireland dont have a test team. How are Ireland to grow if there best players are going to play for England instead of giving the smaller nations a chance to play to a higher level than before.

I think cricket need to change to let these smaller nations in on the Test game if the sport is to grow in those countries. Even let them tour the bigger countries even play against there second teams and get the odd game against the other teams. Just look when England have home games. Instead of that team playing a England second team they could play Ireland in a 1 off test in England if need be. If they cant do that then sadly the sport wont get to the level of other sports over here in Ireland.

It is very hard to judge how a player will do in the 5 day game by watching them in the limited overs game as the styles of the game are quite different, however about half of that side are currently with county sides in England playing four day games, though a good tournament by Ireland will encourage more touring sides to travel to Belfast or Dublin for ODI games, increasing the profile of the game over here and hopefully in the not too distant future leading to Ireland gaining Test Status, though it would be very hard to find the income to sustain full time professionals.
The players at county sides must be released to play for Ireland when they have a full international.
