If Garry Cook is guilty of anything...

If he's guilty of anything,

Its being an incompetent, bumbling idiot.

Too many on here get sucked in because Cook is decent to talk to...he's a professional schmoozer, its his job to be like that. He gives fans free tickets etc, yeah well he has an extensive marketing budget and gestures like that are fantastic publicity.

When Cook has had to step up into the media spotlight he regularly makes a fool of himself and the club, he's frank spencer in a suit. He's living off his Nike contacts and thats all. People have a go at Hughes for the whole 'tafia' thing but all Cook's appointments relate to Nike because he has no experience of running a football club. If we were going to make any changes at the club it should have been to get rid of this guy. The owners and the decision makers at the club lack knowledge of running a football club and whilst upto now I've rated Khaldoon very highly he needs to be surrounded by people who know how to run a top football club, Garry Cook is not that man.

Utter drivel IMO. I find Cooks approach to football quite refreshing. He says it how he see's it (Kaka) for example and the way he's dragged this club from where it was commercially is nothing short of miraculous. Hughes new what he was signing up for and it clearly wasn't mediocrity. The Arabs arent fucking around here and why should they, they've put their cock on the block and spent the doe, Hughes needed to deliver but they gave him 18 months and he was firing blanks. He wasn't up to the task and was put to the sword yesterday after a game of football he was paid handsomely to manage.

Well done Gary! keep up the good work. The guys a class act and were lucky to have him on board.

I hope the owners get rid of Cook too, an absolute fuckwit and I cannot fathom how some blues defend him.

Garry Cook made a tough decision in sacking Hughes.

I think it's funny, but also just a touch pathetic, that the very same people who five days ago were slagging off Cook (and Marwood) to high heaven and back for backing Hughes' judgment in the transfer market, and for employing him in the first place, now want to see Cook sacked because Hughes has been sacked...

Some of the older, more sensible posters on this board have taken leave of their senses and are talking utter drivel.

Haha, 'i find cooks approach to football quite refreshing' what you mean not having a clue about anything to do with football including the culture of the fans? Cook's incompetence is City of old mate, if we want to progress we need to get rid of this halfwit before he does any further damage.

Go on then...enlighten me...what actual damage has Garry Cook done to City since his appointment?

Maybe 'damage' was over the top from my part. But he's a liabilty whenever he's quoted publicly. The whole 'Shinitwatra is a great guy to play golf with' thing. Even he admits was stupid. 'Richard Dunne's name doesn't roll of the tongue in Bejing' I don't care what anyone's feelings about Dunne are or were, for a newcomer to be so disrespectful of the then club captain is nothing short of disgraceful. Then there was the Kaka deal, we're trying to get to the point with City where we're going to considered one of the biggest clubs in the world and he comes out and accuses one of the most prestigious clubs in world football as 'bottling it' great way to get yourself taken seriously Garry. Then he was interviewed and got the 'City till I die' philosophy all wrong, recently he inducted Uwe Rosler into the Manchester United hall of fame, there's probably more stuff he's done to embarrass the club. Simply he puts his foot in it on a regular basis, far too often for it to be accredited as a one off. Fans of other clubs all think Cook is a joke and have more ammunition whenever he pops up in the media. He has no footballing experience prior to City, not what we need in one of the most senior/important positions in the club. I'm a City fan and want my club represented with dignity and class in the public eye so far I think Cook has failed to deliver on this. But hey, he gives some City fans free tickets and schmoozes with the best of them, I guess he must be doing a great job really.

He's his own AC Milan... where was yesterday?

I don't think he's pulling the strings, because he seems completely inept... He'll have our spirals painted red next season!

I'm surprised none of the papers have used the headline "Bottled it!" referring to Gary Cook.

At the Burnley game I bumped into Garry Cook who was discretely laying a wreath in the rememberance garden.

I got to talk with him for several minutes. The guy is a first class gentleman.

Yes he's made some gaffes but I'd rather have him over a slimeball like Kenyon etc anyday.

Excellent post, BC.

Concerning the Kaka/Milan episode, Cook also made disparaging remarks about a perceived lack of ambition on the part of Kaka's father (who acts as his son's agent). This is the same father/agent who has guided his son to true world class stature with one of the planet's most prominent and respected clubs.

The Nike-approved Cook clearly couldn't comprehend the notion that throwing money at someone doesn't makes them yours, or that a player might put concepts like personal happiness and loyalty before cash.
